there is no red light or green coming on, no power at all.

    The model # is LC 320 EM 825 serial# J0 4878196

    Manufactured Jan 2008

Thank you for the great info.

We went to Radio shack and replaced the fuse as you suggested,

    it blew out three fuses.

What we are wondering is if the fuses keep blowing is it a power

    board problem or something else.

The site you recomended (Merchant.com) wants $179.00 for a power board. We don't want to buy it and then fry it if its not the

    problem.

Thank you for responding so quickly and sharing your knowledge.

We have ruled out that it is a fuse problem as three fuses blew instantly. We are now waffling between a new power board or just

going ahead and buying another TV , which will not be an Emerson.

I'm sure you already checked the outlet and the surge protector bar. It's lame how the warranty only last a year on this TV.

If your lucky, it will be just the fuse that need to be replaced. It will look like a little glass tube with metal caps on the ends. Radio Shack or an Electronic supply store will have the fuse. Just show them the fuse and they should match up the type and size. It needs to be 4amps and 125volts fuse.

If this doesn't work, you'll need to replace is the power supply board. The board# is BA71F0F01042. Your power supply board should have the same number on the lower right side of this board.

The board is hard to find right now. Only three places I know of to find it.
Ebay,
Discount-Merchant.com,
and Shopjimmy.com
Sadly, nobody has them in stock.
I wish I had a extra board to sell you, because I know how to repair the power supply. I have the schematics diagrams and part# for the pieces on the board.
If you ever come across a replacement board, let me know. I would like to buy your old board. Here's my e-mail, [email protected]

If the fuses blow right away, then it would be a power board problem. Some thing must have shorted out on the board.

If the new fuses fixed the problem, then best thing to do is invest in a better surge protector. Power spikes from the power grid and power outages will kill a power board in a TV. A good surge protector normally cost about $100. A cheap $10 surge protector has a very slow reaction time and the quality is very poor.

How did the fuse problem turn out?

  • Anonymous Apr 25, 2009

Ok. If you decide to buy a new TV, I can tell you which other brands to stay away from that have the same problems and other defects.

If you get rid of the TV, I can recycle it for you. I'll even pay for shipping. :)

How do I hook up my Wii to my 32" Emerson lcd hd tv? I have my dishnetwork satellite hooked into the dvd player and it's hooked up to the TV. On my remote I don't see a "game" button like my older Emerson...

I found a better way and it works fine. I have a new 32 inch Emerson, with only one composit hood up ( which won't work with the wii) 2 HDMI's ( again does not hook up to the wii, the monitor hook up for PC, red and white ( yellow plus is not there it's for a stereo they told me), and the usb hook up ( which is more for pictures I was told by the company). The answer was to hook my RCA plus to the red and white under the composite, then hook the yellow into the green plug of the composite, and behold- my will now works fine.

My 32 inch emerson powers up and cuts off after a few seconds.

Hi, I own the same TV and had the same problem. It's the #1 plaguing issue with flat panel TVs made by Funai corp. Emerson is made by them. Normally, when this happens, the TV goes into " Protection Mode " because of a failing circuit board.

The most common thing to go out on flat panel TV is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom. I'm willing to bet you have the same problem like mine. One of six Inverter Transformers when bad on my Power/Backlight Inverter Supply Board. I replaced it and it works fine again. d66cb18.jpg

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.

2. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual at Tvtechcenter.com:
http://www.tvtechcenter.com/xcart/search.php?mode=search&page=1 It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $6. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

http://www.encompassparts.com/products/?LTZ2PC0MS008

3. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.
