I have this same problem. I asked a saleman about this; he said to spray some canned air in and around the bulb and in and round where the bulb is mounted. I have removed the bulb and dusted off the bulb. I didn't use any canned air. This helped with some of the spots but not all of them. What else can I do?

Same here! Purple spots everywhere and I thought maybe the screen needs cleaning. I'm interested in trying the "cleaning of the bulb method" if I can locate it. Any other tips?

I have a 55" Sony Wega HDTV rear projection television and it has developed purple pin size spots on the screen. It started with just one spot and quickly grew to hundreds of spots over a couple weeks....

You should do a regular cleaning maintenance to the air filter and exchange it regularly. Small dust particules may get into the internal projection module and those spots became visible.

Thats caused by a bad optical block. The cost of that repair will almost always be greater than replacing the TV.Thats a very common issue with alot of Sony DLP models which suffered that optical block issue with the blobs of color usually blue or green

Wega KDF-50WE655 has purple spots, support says wega engine bad

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described sounds like one of the circuit boards that control the picture quality needs to be replaced. The cost of the board would likely be in excess of $200. There are usually several boards in a TV like that that control the picture and when one goes, you can get anything from lines in the picture to poor picture quality from blurriness. The main question is do you want to spend $1000 to fix a used TV?

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Green spot on picture

Greenish yellow spot only means one thing. You have a defective lite engine. The only fix is to replace the engine. This part is very
expensive. Average cost $835.00 Part number A-1606-008-A

Bright blue spots on lower right corner of Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50 in. Rear projection tv

The spots are from dust in the optical assy. It would need to be replaced because the only way to fix the part would be to disasemble it in a dust free room.
