my Compaq 610 laptop the dvd drive does not open when I click the open button from the side.

Hi Friend, In this case I would recommend you to please check if the default audio device is selected as Speakers instead of Headphones.
In order to check that please right click on the sound icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen and goto the sound dialog box and make sure that the default device is selected as Speakers instead of Headphones.

its a software issue.
try reinstalling the webcam driver, if the problem remains there then reinstall the operating system
