Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players
Coby dvd portable is not starting up
Simplemitch, how is it America's job to decide who buys what? The Mintik DVD player was quite cheap, which is what most people want. Of course they use cheaper parts to make them, and laser diodes are a risky item anyway. Bottom line supercedes ethics in many cases, which is sad, but businesses are in business to make money too. I bought my Mintek because it was on sale and quite cheap. We got two of them and they lasted about 3 years, both beginning to fail at the same time but they do actually work sometimes, so I am not sure it is the laser, dirt, bad connection or what. No one seems to be able to troubleshoot them, and for the cost of repair, they are a toss away unit for sure.

You may need to clean the laser in the unit. You can purchase a cleaning disk at Radio Shack or Best Buy. They are normally less than $20.
