Does your camera show the pictures without the SD card installed?
Maybe the camera has an internal memory also. If not, they are likely being stored in the wrong format.
Testimonial: "No, it doesn't display the pics when card is out. It says, "no card in camera.""
Are your picture files jpeg or Canon raw (CRW file extension)...if they are CRW...you will need to convert them to jpeg, using a file converter, like Irfan View...photo labs (most), cannot read raw files and would not files...hope this helps.
SOURCE: LCD screen not working
Your LCD is broken.
The SD card would not be able to affect the LCD screen in any way.
Normally I would say to get the LCD fixed but that would be a waste of money due to the fact that this model was released in 2004 and you would be better off getting a new camera.
For good quality and "user-friendliness" i would suggest the:
Canon SD1000, SD870, SD750 (Thin, sleek designs that come with a rechargable battery)
For more a more convenient price without loss of quality you might want to check out the Canon PowerShot A560.
(A somewhat large and bulky camera that runs on regular AA batteries)
Goodluck!

Check to see if you have a foreign substance on the contactor in the camera.
SOURCE: can't download pics from sd to camera
Goto any radio shack and get a external memory card reader this will allow you to get your pictures if the camera or cable is defective.
SOURCE: Trouble viewing pictures transfered to the memory card
The process only works one way...you can download pictures taken on your camera to your computer but you cannot download pictures from your computer to the card and play them back on your camera.

SOURCE: How to format an SD card on a Canon SD600 camera
Could be that you have the wrong memory card.
SD600 will only work with the old SD cards, but the SD780 will take the SDHC cards.
SDHC was intended to give 4gb or more of storage, while the old SD started as 16 mb. Different cameras have different limits, but it is always best to assume that the practical limit on an SD card is 2mb. Even if the SD780 will take the SDHC cards, it can be more practical to only carry 2GB SD cards and know that they will fit either camera
