When I bought my Travelmate 380, there was WiFi but then after a year and a half, all of a sudden, the Wifi just disappeared and if I press the bluetooth/wireless button, it tells me NO DEVICE. I would like to find out how to get the device back or what could be wrong that I cannot use my Wireless internet anymore.

- I have a 1394 Net Adapter and a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC in my Network Adapters.
-   Hi I have the same problem, using Acer Aspire 3610...I was using my wireless fine from school as I have for the past few years. I came back home a few hours later, turned the laptop back on the Wireless Device was GONE. The WLAN was no longer available in "My Network Connections". When I press on the Wireless/Bluetooth button on the front of the laptop, it says in big green letter on the bottom right on the screen "NO DEVICE". Like I said I was using it perfectly about 3-4 hours previously, and within that time, it seems that my wireless capabilities have been annihilated. What gives? and Thanks.-   benjich

-   The laptop fell to the floor in a padded case - next time I used it I was unable to get the WiFi radio to turn on (using the Fn-F1 key combination). WiFi indicator light (the antenna symbol) lights briefly during startup, but can't get it to come on at any other time.
Also, in Device Manager tab can't find anything that resembles a WiFi card or adapter. Should there be something listed under Network Adapters?? Currently only thing listed is the Ethernet adapter.
I tried it and the device doesn't even appear in the BIOS so therefore I think I will take the PC apart to see if the card is maybe damaged or came loose.
Go into Device Manager (right-click on My Computer, choose Properties, Hardware tab and Device Manager button) and expand the Network adapters section. What network adapters do you see listed?

- Go into the BIOS and see if you have the ability to enable or disable the wireless adapter. Since the Windows is not seeing it, the BIOS may not have it turned on so it can be seen.

I haven't tried it yet but will do it just now and see if it works, otherwise, maybe I need to take my laptop apart and see if the card maybe came loose or maybe got damaged. Will keep you informed. Thanks for your help.
