It sounds like power to the circuit board might be interrupted, but data on non-US models is limited.

What is the wattage on the sharp microwave model r-2a48?

http://www.sharpusa.com doesn't have your manual. But you can find it yourself on the
back of the unit - the wattage should be listed.

If only the amperage is given (you know the voltage is 120 VAC RMS), so using Ohm's Law, you can calculate wattage:

Watts = 120 Volts X Amps

Microwave is totaly dead

YOU WANT TO CHECK POWER FIRT AT THE OUTLET MAKE SURE YOU STILL HAVE 120 VOLTS THERE.. IF SO AND PLUG IS GOOD ON 98% OF THE MICROWAVES OUT THERE IS A 20 AMP fuse located in control panel of unit... check there with the power disconnected and may have a blown fuse...if that is good you most likely have a blown control on unit ...
hopw this helps good luck...

The microwave is absolutely dead as if getting no power - circuit breaker is OK. Died suddenly...just nothing there when tried to use.

Possibly the internal fuse. Unplug unit, remove all case screws on the back of the micro. Slide the case toward the back and remove. Look for a glass tube type fuse, simular to automotive fuses of the past. It should be located near the controls. If bad, I have been able to find replacements at Radio Shack. If the fuse is good, I'm sorry, it's beyond my microwave knowledge level.

Unit is dead, no display no turn on Worked fine one day, dead the next

it maybe the internal fuse tht has blown all microwaves have a monitor fuse inside some where the mains power comes in and some on the control pcb it does mean that a short circuit has accured but it can happen if the door is slammed you will need to remove the top cover of the unit to find the fuse and be very careful inside everything is very sharp and door make sure it is unpluged also inside a microwave i a large capacitor this can store power even with the unit off it should be grounded b4 working on the unit but a long as you are just changing the fuse you should ok do if you can use insulated pliers for your own safety,if u fit a new fuse and it blows again thn my advise would be to take it to a a repair shop as the high voltage side of your microwave is up to 4000-5000 volts

check the breakers on the inverter located in the outside compartment it has two breackers on it. most people don't know that some of the 120 volt power comes thru the inverter.
