It sounds like a bad motor. Take it to a local vac shop and they should be able to order the motor for you.

you might have picked up a hard object like a dime or screw that won't go into the bag. Pill out the brush and shake it downward and look for something falling out.

Why is my hoover spin brush making a loud noise when i turn it on

Check for clogs starting with the air passageway at the bottom.
A piece of TV cable or similar works well as you have to snake
it in. Check all hoses, Are the filters clean? If you can, remove
the brush bar and belt then turn vacuum on. If the vacuum is
no longer making a loud noise the side bearings on the brush
bar are the problem...replace the bar or spray a bit of WD40-
if you do that wipe well before you vacuum. Finally....if the
vacuum was still loud with the brush bar off...you have a motor
problem and that could be expensive.

Hello,

You could have a broken fan in the motor and need to replace the fan. If the noise is coming from the brush area of the vacuum, you probably have a broken bearing in your brush roller and would need to replace the brush itself.

Hope this helps.

I used the vaccum with out a bag once and when I put the bag in and started it it would not work. It makes a lot of noise and there is no suction at all.

If your machine requires a bag and u use it without one then the dirt has no place to go but through the motor. It sounds like your motor is shot.

Really loud noise.

The belt inside my Hoover broke and so we replaced it. But when we did, it now makes an extremely loud noise when turned on. We think it’s the roller to the vacuum because it doesn't make a noise when the roller is not in there. The roller sounds like its hitting something. However, we have pushed and pulled and done everything and all seems to be right. Everything is clicked in and the belt is on correctly and we've followed the manual. How can I fix this problem?
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me that it is a bad brushroll and could need new bearings or a complete new brushroll depending on if id is metal word or plastic. Some brushrolls are rebuildable and some are not, you can check your owner’s manual to see if it is or is not; or it could be the start of a broken fan blade or bearing in the motor section. But that is the only thing that I can think of that might be wrong. Feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or you can also contact the Hoover website or cust serv phone # listed below. Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Most of the older Hoover Comm’l type vacuums have a shake our bag with a slide on clamp – so you would keep the clamp & then either the bag usually is wired on @ the bottom of the fill area & would need to re-attach if the outer bag is still in good shape. If not then I suggest that you replace the bag and clamp if needed. include the brand name & model # with your request to either company. Questions? Contact the Hoover website or Hoover cust service @ the info listed below. Loud noise when running.

Bad bearing or fan in the motor is most likely the problem. You would have to replace the motor.

LOUD NOISE FROM HOOVER POWERMAX ii

These vacs can stop up in almost inaccessible places. That sound means that it has stopped up somewhere and the electric motor is in a strain. Keep it running like that long enough and the motor is toast. I have one that seems to prefer the hose area where it goes by the motor and into the bag. The tube from the motor to the bag also is prone to stop up. To take these apart requires that you start at the beater bar area and work you way inward. In certain areas if you look closely, you'll see little arrows pointing to the screws. These are the ones that will allow you to get closer to the innards of these. When you get to where the motor is, look for blockages from the attachment hose. It takes only small items to completely block it off which will effect performance from both the beater bar/normal intake and also from use of the hose itself. The b***ards can be a pain to keep functional. I've personally removed rather sizeable wads of dog hair from mine that mucked up the works rather than went into the bag. Belts for the beater bar are notoriously short lived in these as well. When they break, the vacuum is only good as a floor sweeper. Stock up on both belts and bags for these. Good luck!

Vacuum Roller making a loud noise

Your roller brush is starting to fail. If you unscrew the ends, you will find a lot of hair wound around the stem. You probably have a warped plastic end the holds the bearing. This is my problem now.... I am looking for a new roller brush as I write this. I found one for $30. Good Luck.
