V3m backlight problems

I dropped my v3m in the toilet a couple of weeks ago and so I took it apart and let it dry. The phone is working fine now with the exception of the backlight on both screens. If I hold the phone in the sunlight I can see the icons well enough to use the phone. Do I need to replace the LCD screens for the backlight to work again or is there a way to only replace the backlight?

Re: V3m backlight problems

I had the same accident with another phone make and model. I replaced the battery and it worked fine. I figured this out because my husband had the same kind of phone. When his phone had my battery it would not work. When my phone had his battery it worked just find. Fortunately, my carrier had a spare battery and gave it to me.

Re: V3m backlight problems

You must get a specialist to change the screen because the pixel generator has been dampened. Good luck!

Backlight display not working

Hey Dannes1956,

The Motorola V3m has a light sensor, which is visible just above the right soft key -- the key above the CLR button. This light sensor turns the backlight on when you press a key in the dark and disables the keypad backlight when you are in a well-lit area.

Your phone sounds like it's operating normally. I believe they disabled the option to activate or deactivate that feature.

Hope this helps,

Dropped in Toilet

See if it will turn on when you remove battery and plug it into your charger. If it will you could recover the numbers with the Motorola software or the Carrier could.

V3m or nokia 6275?

I would suggest the Motorola RAZR. It is a good phone. On average a good battery will last a couple of days without charge but that's only from experience. I have one just like it. The picture quality is great and I have never had any problems with the bluetooth.
