Furnace keeps shutting down after lights

We have a York Diamond 80 Furnace...It lights, then a few seconds later, shuts down...It will try 3 times, then we have to re-set the thermostat...We used to be able to turn on, then off, then on, then off, and eventually it would start, and stay going...now it won't! Any suggestions?

Time to call service guy you are cycling on a saftey which means somethings not right in ignition circuit the only thing i would tell a untrained person to try is cleaning the flame rod which is part of the pilot assembly it is a metal rod that gives small electric current to ignition device confirming that you have a pilot lite you can lightly sand with sand cloth

York diamond 80. when power is on should the red indicator light on printed circuit board be on. Replace flame senser furnace main burner still shuts down after a few seconds and we get 5 flashes from

Check polarity to the furnace, it must be correct, not likely unless new or worked on though. The induced draft has a pressure switch that has a tube that connects to the induced draft housing, that orifice clogs with carbon and a tiny drill bit is used to **** the orifice clean, it will be hard if pluged, you know you are clear when you fel, hear the inducers squirrel cage with the drill bit, the tubing if dipped can collect condensate and block the pressure of the draft to be sensed by the pressure switch and the pressure switch can be bad or off too. If the flue is blocked or induced draft wheels burned up/rusted out, not much draft is induced, you need to snoop a bit.

My furnace stopped working. It'd start up shut down start up shut down all in the matter of seconds. Then would fire up and work. it did this maybe once every couple days then it stopped all together. ...

Replace pressure switch. If you blow any air into the pressure switch it has been damaged, check air ports for debris by looking never ,never blow on air switch they work on a very small pressure or vaccum, where your breath is to much pressure and also loaded with unwanted humidity.

My central AC is a York Diamond 80 (also my furnace). Thermostat set on Cool, isn't cooling. and when i shut thermostat off, it continues to blow air. red light flashing inside unit code = Limit switch...

Hi,
One of the limit switch in the furnace is tripped or went bad....
Try to find all of the reset switches and push the little red button on the top to reset them...
If that don't work you will need to take an electric meter and test each switch to see which one is bad...

I have a York Diamond 90 furnace and when i try to start it, the pilot light goes on then it shoots the flame into the furance, but will shut down a minute or so after that. It sounds like the blower is...

The furnace is not sensing the flame. Turn off the power.
There is a metal rod in front of the last burner to light. It is corroded and needs to be cleaned. Its the flame sensor .
take the 1 screw out holding it in to the bar and scrub it with some steel wool till shiny. replace and turn on furnace. all should be fine.

My york diamond 80 can be fired up, but it is shut off automaticaly after approx. 20sec. This can be repeated 3 times. I beleive the fun and borad panel are working fine.

The flame sensor might have dust build up on it. The flame sensor makes sure that the system has ignited before it starts the main blower. If it ignite and burns for 15-20 seconds then goes out that is most likely your problem. Identify a probe that is in the direct path of the flame(usually in the last burner tube from the gas source), it will have one wire coming off of it and usually has one screw holding it in place. As time goes by the sensor will get a build up on it and stop functioning. Turn the power to your furnace off, then remove the screw and then gently pull the flame sensor out. Using a MILD abrasive like panty hose of paper towel (DO NOT USE sand paper) clean the sensor and then put it back into place. Tighten the screw and then turn your furnace back on. That should fix your problem.
