Question about LG CHOCOLATE VX8500 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Display is blank unless heated up.

LG VX8550 screen goes blank. I can revive it by heating it up with a hair dryer, but immediately goes blank again after it times out. No water damage. Confirmed it has latest updates on software and firmware. All other functions work.

i have the same problem. im pretty sure it started happening when my phone got slightly moist; no more moist than it has gotten many times before. it started working again for a little while and its been on and off for the past two weeks. insurance wont pay for it so im hoping itll resolve itself. I havent tried the hair dryer thing, mine just seems to randomly start working again.

The hardware in the phone has most likely melted and only works when heater now... DON'T heat it up, you're making it worse!!! Take it into a repair center and they can try to fix it... If not it will most likely have to be replaced. I have this same phone and I've had to have mine replaced 6 times.

Friend,

With the heat on, you may have burnt something inside. Whenever you get your phone wet, always remove the battery and SIM immediately and use the hair dryer without heat. Just plain dry cold air. Blow air into it for a very long time to remove all traces of water. Then power on the phone. It may work. You still may have a chance to save your phone. Do blow air through the phone.

The screen on my LG VX8550 (chocolate) doesn't work

Hello,

the screen is not the one that is faulty, but flex.

There is a flex the connects the screen with the phone board. This flex usually worns out as a result of constant open and close of the slide.

Once you have the flex replaced, your screen will display again.

Good luck.

WHAT IS 8.8.

8.8. indicates a display pad problem. It happens a lot this time of year. The cold weather causes a problem with the keypad, espicially if the machine is in a garage or a basement. One option is to replace the keypad, but a more immediate solution is to place a heating pad over the display panel. After 10 the 15 minutes the pad will warm the display enough so that it will work.

My tv turns on properly but after a few minutes it goes blank

you are having a heat related issue and the component or parts are failing. using a hair dryer blowing into back of set will make it black out and a portable fan should cool it enough to come back on. unless you know a good cheap tech, repairs are costly. i left the business when t.v' s became disposable.

LG 1715S faulty

I can confirm the number 3 solution. I have fixed a bunch of these now.
Replace capacitor C202, 680uf 25V. It is usually visibly damaged. It should be a low impedance type, often known as "suitable for switch mode power supply".
