Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

We have a Xerox 7346 Wide Format Scanner. The control panel lights come on, the scanner light comes on, it feeds the paper up to the scan station normally. But, it won't go to ready. Any ideas. Thanks, Allen

THERE ARE MANY CUSTOMERS OF MINE STILL WAITING  WITH THE SAME PROBLEM LIKE YOURS.the scanner sensor is broken that needs replacement.so the lights are blinking. that sensor is npot there so it cannot move further after it gets ready because after it gets ready the sensor senses the paper.but the sensor is not there so paper does not get detected, its a toughjob to replace the sensor.asnd it is also not easily available.still you can order it from the xerox service center,as the part number is XN98D34CLA8 --- THIN BLACK MOVABLE SENSOR PIN. BUT THE PART IS DISCONTINUED BY THE COMPANY.so the last option is to try the local printer /copier repair center.they have such parts available as they buy such old printers, scanners, copiers.they cvan provide you. thanks.keep updated.thank you for using fixya.

Documate error 8

Hello.

I am a Support Engineer with Xerox Scanners.

E8 is a Paper Jam error that could be caused by:
- paper crumpling during scan.
- paper is multi-feeding all at once instead of feeding separate.
- scanner continuously tries to feed after paper has fed through.

if the paper is crumpling during the scan, make sure the inside of the scanner is clear of any obstructions. use the paper guides in the ADF tray to keep the paper straight when feeding in.

if the paper is multifeeding while scanning, fan out the pages before inserting them into the scanner. if problem persists, try cleaning the rollers with rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth.

if scanner tries to continually feed after the paper feeds through, the ADF tray will need to be reseated. open the scanner and remove the ADF tray at the top. line up the 4 keys at the bottom of the tray with the 4 corresponding key slots inside the scanner. push the tray back until it clicks into place.

Xerox Synergix A0 Scanner setup

As far as I know you need either the Xerox Accxes controller (like a dedicated PC) or a wide-format printer with the built-in Accxes controller, like the Xerox 8825 model. The 8825 has the firewire input and communicates just fine with the YWC-1.

Black line 1 inch wide right side ,when copies are made and faxing

Hi,
When the paper is fed through Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is is scanned before copy or fax. The scanner is fixed type and is located just below the ADF.
The lines are due to dirty scanner mirror. The printer/ scanner design is based Sheet-Fed Scanner. Open/Lift the Control Panel (scanner top )(by pulling it up from front - the area from where the paper to scan comes out). Look out for the horizontal mirror and use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth to gently clean the scanner mirror, rollers etc. and enjoy clear scanning and copying!
creativetech_52.jpg
Inspect for any tron pieces of paper dirt etc.DONT USE PAPER, CHEMICALS OR ANY ABRASIVE CLOTH as it may damage the parts.
Also note that your machine can scan an image only 8.15 inches wide, regardless of how wide the paper is.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

The scanner takes 2 sheets of paper at a time instead of 1 so only 1 is being scanned. I've tried a different paper that is thicker than regular printer paper and it's still doing it.

There is a pad below the feed roller that wears out. It is called a ****** pad, it retards the feeding of extra sheets of paper. That pad will need to be replaced. Once it is it will stop multisheet feeding.

Lexmarkx125 will scan larger pictures but smaller ones.

Here are some instructions from the Lexmark X63 which was similar to the X125.

The Lexmark X63 uses a sheet fed scanner, intended to scan 8 1/2 x11 inch paper.
  • To scan a document between 5 1/2 inches and 8 3/4 inches wide, center the document between the paper feed guides leading into the scanner and make sure the document is held straight,. Do not bend the document as it is fed into the scanner.
  • To scan photos or pictures that are 5 1/2 inches wide or smaller, you will need to use a flatbed scanner, or "mat" the image into a regular letter-size paper and scan the entire page. When the scan process is complete, crop out the picture using the AUTO CROP option in the Scan and Copy Control program or the photo-editing software.

The rollers and retard pad need replaced.
The rollers are self explanitory, the retard pad is so named to retard the feed of multiple sheets of paper.
That is your problem.
