Hi, I bought a used ASUS MyPal626. After I installed ActiveSync on my main PC, when I tried to sync, I received a virus detection report from my virus software, "Deep Throat". I did a soft reset on the 626 but still received the virus warning when it tried to sync. I am thinking that I need to do a hard reset but I could not find any reference to that. I removed the battery but still got the warning. I am not even sure if the virus warning is valid. Has anyone had a problem such as this? If so, what was the fix? What else could I try? Thanks!

- Hi, Thanks for the answer back. I found and installed a virus program on my PDA. It reports no virus or malware but when I try and Sync it to my desk top my Virus software on my desk top reports a virus, "Deep Throat". The ASUS mypal A626 is running WM 5.0 and my desktop is running Windows XP Pro w/SP3. Thanks, grader01

- Thanks!! You were correct, my computer had malware, 3 items that my virus software did not identify. I checked all my computers since they are networked and all were clean except for one. Thanks again. Now I need to find the source of the problem. I am going to try and sync my pocket PC, ASUS A626 to my desktop and see if it generates a virus alert. grader01

- Thanks! I think the problem is solved. I put AirScanner on my PPC and did not find any malware. However, I did run malawarebytes and found 3 incidents on my desktop PC. My virus software did not catch the malware until I tried to sync my pocket PC to the desktop using mysync from Microsoft. Thanks again, grader01

- See: http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/dthroat.shtml Then go to the first link I provided and install the MBAM on your desktop, update it and run a scan of your system to determine if your have a Win32.DeepThroat infection that has not been dealt with by your anti-virus software.

You are right. "Deep Throat is indeed a spyware program, that shows fake virus warning.
I suggest you to remove the program as soon as possible. Please try to remove the program through add/remove program, if it is not getting removed you can try a tool named Combofix
