Hi,

Try these steps,

  1. Close itunes and open it up again.
  2. Run software update, and make sure you have the latest software for itunes and the latest firmware for your ipod.
  3. Make sure that the ipod is fully charged.
  4. Disconnect other USB devices from your computer andtrya different USB 2.0 port. Also make sure it is a USB port thatconnectsdirrectly to your computer. Not through a USB hub or akeyboard.
  5. Turn off the ipod touch, and turn it on againbyholding down the top button and sliding the bar to power off.Thenpress and hold the top button until the Apple logo appears.
  6. Restart your computer, and reconnect the ipod to your computer.
  7. Download and reinstall the latest version of itunes. www.apple.com/itunes
I hope that helps,

Nathan.

My ipod not recognized by itunes in order to reinstall the software

Connections b> The USB cable must be securely connected both to the iPod and to the selected USB port on the computer. Reattach the cable at both ends, and click "Computer" in the start menu to see if the iPod is shown connected to the drive for that USB port. b> Drivers b> If the drivers of the computer responsible for the USB interface are out of date, malfunctioning or incorrectly installed, that may also cause the iPod to not be recognized by the computer. If this is the case, the device may not appear in iTunes and there may be an exclamation point next to the device in Device Manager. b> Software b> The latest version of iTunes is recommended to best communicate with the various models of iPod. Go to the iTunes website or click "Help" and "Check for Updates" in iTunes to install the most recent update. Further, the computer must be running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 for PCs, or OS X v.10.4.11 or later for Macs. b> Battery b> The iPod's battery must have sufficient charge to be recognized in iTunes; charge it either via USB connection or another power source if the indicator shows a low battery. Once the battery has charged, try to connect the iPod to the computer via USB cable again.

Error 1439 cant restore ipod keeps on popping. my ipod is a classic black.

  1. Disconnect and reconnect your iPod to iTunes, and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
  2. Restart your computer and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
  3. Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port, and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again. Connecting to a USB 2.0 port is recommended. For Windows computers, refer to Identifying USB 2.0 ports on your computer for instructions.
  4. Remove any USB devices not manufactured by Apple that you have connected to your computer (it is not necessary to remove your keyboard or mouse). Then, attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
  5. Update to the latest version of iTunes, and then attempt to restore or update the iPod again.
  6. Try to restore or update the iPod again using a different user account for your computer. For example, create a new test user account on the computer with admin rights, and with iTunes installed, try to restore/update the iPod.
  7. Try disabling Disk Use on your iPod and attempt to restore or update the iPod again. If that doesn't work, try enabling Disk Use on your iPod and attempt to restore/update. Refer to Putting iPod into Disk Mode below for instructions.*
  8. If using a Windows PC to restore or update your iPod, try to reregister ".dll" files as described below this list.**
  9. If using a Windows PC, try to update or reinstall your Windows USB drivers, referring to the section titled "iPod only: Updating, or in some cases reinstalling, the drivers for your computer's USB interface may resolve this issue."

Black ipod classic 80gig. how do i reset it,ive forgot the 4 didgit lock code?

According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the IPod by doing the following:
Connect your IPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one IPod synced with), and open iTunes.
When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod.
Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your IPod is associated with, do this:
1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone.
All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
3. Open iTunes and synchronize.
Apple also notes that company "representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your combination. If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the IPod, which will erase all music and data."

Try connecting to another computer's iTunes. If the computer recongnizes it, it could mean that your computer's USB ports are malfunctioning.

How do you you hook up an ipod to a computer

  1. Connect the small end of the USB cable to a high-powered (2.0) USB port on your computer.
  2. Connect the large end of the USB cable to your iPod's dock connector, which is located on the bottom of your iPod.
  3. Open the iTunes software on your computer. When your computer recognizes your iPod, an iPod icon will be displayed in the device list on the left-hand side of the iTunes software window.

Apple iPod classic will play for 30-45' then will

1. Try doing a 'Restore' from within iTunes 2. If iTunes can't see the iPod it's possible that the hard drive is dead or dying. 3. If it's under warranty (12 months), take it to your nearest Authorised Apple Service Centre and they will get it exchanged in a couple of days
No warranty? Google "iPod repairs" in your country and you should be able to find someone who can fix it. The usually have a self diagnosis on line so will get an idea of the cost before you begin

Restore

Windows and MAC each want to format the player in their own way - using both on one iPod = eventual death for your iPod (and mass confusion, frustration in between). Pick a computer - format the player for that computer only. Make sure that all songs you are trying to load are in the right format suggested by the user manaul. WMA files are trouble - avoid them if possible (if you want, I will give you clarification on this).

Free software to DOWNLOAD my 80gig classic ipod to my new computer

went to www.ephpod.com and got free trial of MUSIC RESCUE from the forum after spending most of the day reading threads (wanted to be sure the "trial offer" didn't sting me half-way through a 20 gig download.)
The ephpod's software is the easiest to find, but one of the threads said his new 80gig classic ipod (same as mine!) crashed.
Somewhere there's an ipod compatibility chart, make sure your ipod matches.
There's several different software packages available, with "limited features" but music rescuer offered full features except for annoying pop-ups. Every 50 tunes it said to make this annoyance stop simply donate 10 pounds (british.) i clicked the mouse alot more than 40x finding this!
Anyway, download the help screen also (read it twice!), and it's basically idiot proof.
There's also a book, How to do everything with yout ipod and itunes by Guy Hart-Davis published by McGraw-Hill/Osbourne, that's basically an IPOD for DUMMIES
