    Thanks Again

Check out the video ic on the main power supply board that is IC NUMBER IC301LC.and also check out resistor number r94 and 97 on power supply board.they control the video in the tv of your model.the cost of the parts is negligible and are easily available.
thanks. keep updated.

it happens due to many reasons.most common reason ios power failure at the time when the tv is turned on.or due to humidity problem at certain location.the moisture droplets gets collected and when you on that wet moisture droplets makes the circuit board short and this types of problems happens.
this are just some common reason of why this problem happened but there are many other reasons too.
and yes you are right that the resistors on the mount.its the proper location.in older tv board it was on the power supply board.in newer tv boards its there on the mount.
    get it repaired.this wioll help.
please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.

The main circuit board goes out in these, it is useually tiny little capacitors that cause the problem, do u have the equipment and background to perform test on this, u will need the circuit diagrams and repair manual, but in the end u will end up buying a new set, go with LCD model.

Based on what you described I would say your TV has the "shrinking and expanding" fault. Its a common problem on that model and the symptoms can range from the video shrinking and expanding or no video or no audio....You can read more about this fix on the site www.TvRepairKits.com

Hello,

This is not how you explain your problems to others. It should be precise. In this case, you could have said that you connected the cable between the RF out put of set-top box and RF input TV. Or Audio/video output of set-top box to Audio/video input of the TV. Also you did not mention, to which port you had connected the Vedeo recorder and DVD which are working good. Now, it may the volume level of the set-top box at low level which you can try to increase by using the remote control

If you could not sort out the problem explain how you had 'dismantled everything'

I am trying to connect my mp3 player to my Vizio VX42L

In most cases the TV's have a "video mute" feature that will block the audio until the set detects a video signal in the corresponding video port. You either have to have a way to turn the video mute off or run a video signal into the video input that corralates with the input you are wanting to connect your mp3 palyer to.

Sony STR-DE925 auto-decode has worked fine for years. All DVD/PS3/Cable is attached to TV via HDMI and inbound audio from HDTV is optical fiber (TOSLINK). Up until today, this has worked perfectly, i.e.,...

OK, so with more troubleshooting, I was able to eliminate the problem with my DE925. It was actually the Vizio HDTV that was causing the problem, as I decided to route the optical audio from my DVD and PS3 directly to the same TOSLINK port on the DE925 and auto-decode worked. It was not the fiber-op cables either. This HDTV was a less-expensive 720p 32" model anyway, so I am not too concerned with the optical out working on it as I can run up to four TOSLINK connections in to the receiver.

Vizio VX37L 37'' LCD HDTV Television not turning on

Unplug set and hold and press the power button for about a minute. Replug set and turn it on. If nada, then the issue is with the power supply of the set. Given its age and the high cost of repairs it might be more cost effective to get a new set.

Vizio GV42L LCD TV screen black when turn TV on first time

If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on.  If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.
