Let me clarify...any audio files I listen to whether it's on videos I watch via YouTube, Windows Media, etc. or just audio files with no video, the speakers sound like Alvin and chipmunks, the pace is fine it's just the speakers voices are at a higher octave...that's the best way I can describe this. Someone told me that I needed to adjust the settings in my sound card to make the voices normal but of course I wouldn't know where to look on my computer to do this!

What program are you viewing the videos in? Do this happen to audio files played in the same program?

I am having a similar problem on my other computer. My son installed an old microphone we had from a windows98 computer and suddenly audio stuff sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks. I tried our windows troubleshooter thing and set our accelleration to basic which helped Window media, but Youtube and whatever the other media thing that defaults when my son clicks on "my music' songs, are still distorted.

We tried unplugging and plugging in the mic again - a green 'realtek' box showed up. I thought about uninstalling it to see, but wondered if this is something that affects other parts of my computer.

If you are using Media Player, open media player, click on View, then Enhancements, choose Play Speed Settings, move to the bottom left of the screen and select Normal, it will be between Slow and Fast. Let me know if this helps

My sound is real funny like chipmunk sounds

If the pitch of the sound being played by your computer speakers has changed dramatically or songs and videos are playing faster or slower than they typically should be, the problem is with the sound speed on your computer. This could mean a hardware issue with your speakers or sound card or a software issue with the program that you're using to play a digital media file.

Double-check your speaker connections. If one of the audio cables that runs off of your speakers isn't plugged correctly into your computer, this could cause the audio coming from them to speed up or slow down. Make sure all cables are properly connected to their proper inputs and try to play your audio again. Update the driver for your computer's sound card. Go to the website of the company that made your sound card and look for your unit's product page. Under the "Support" section, click on the download link for the latest device driver. Once the file is on your computer, double-click on it to install it. Then restart your computer and try to play your audio again. Make sure you haven't accidentally sped up or slowed down the media file you are trying to play. Many digital media programs like iTunes or Windows Media Player have features that allow you to play a song or video in slow or fast motion. If this becomes accidentally selected, the audio will also be in slow or fast motion. Click "Stop" to stop your media file from playing and then click "Play" again to allow it to play normally. Restart your computer. This will free up system memory when your computer restarts. If your sound was playing too slow or too fast due to an error with not having enough memory to play properly, that error will now be fixed and your sound should return to normal speed. Hope this helps.

Convert online video to audio for CD-burning

Here we talk about the tutorial of how to convert online video to audio for CD-burning. AIFF format is the best format for CD-burning. First, let’s talk about why AIFF is the best format for CD-burning. There are people ask about what formats usually use for CD-burning. As i know, FOUR: AIFF, AIFF-C, WAV, Sound Designer II.

9ad2618.jpg

AIFF is audio interchange file format. It is a standard full-quality audio format.

AIFF-C is AIFF-compressed. No Mac programs that support AIFF-C. I’ve seen AIFF-C on SGI machines.

WAV is a full quality audio format associated with Microsoft Windows.
Sound Designer II is a format invented by Digidesign for use in Sound Designer II (as the name suggests.) It can be used in the Mac version of Pro Tools, but it is currently deprecated, since it requires the use of the resource fork, and resource forks are not supported in Windows.

Of the four formats mentioned, the best all-around is AIFF. It is more versatile than WAV, but is easily converted to WAV if needed. It has good cross-platform support, and it retains the full digital quality (it is not compressed with a lossy compression algorithm, like MP3 and AAC.)

AIFF is the standard file format that is used to write audio to CDs. For high quality sound and low file size, most people would convert it to a AIFF. How to convert online video to audio for CD-burning?

How to Fix Issue When All Sounds from Computer Sound Like Chipmunks

Chipmunk Sounds From Computer Speakers
My wife had an interesting issue over the weekend. Anything she played on her computer came through the speakers sounding like chipmunks. You've heard the Alvin and the Chipmunks albums, that's what it sounded like. It didnt matter if it was a Windows sound (wav file), and MP3, a WMV, or any other multimedia. Everything sounded like a chipmunk was playing it. The sounds were played too fast and too high pitched.

Her computer is an Acer with a Realtek sound card built into the motherboard. It has the Realtek HD Audio Manager built into it and I thought at first that something had changed with the audio settings. However, after examining the audio utility and choosing to reset the environment back to its defaults the chipmunk sound was still present.

he Realtek Manager also has an option for Karaoke Mode, which basically removes the voice track when playing a song. Changing this feature had no effect on the system.

Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Sound Card

The only way I found to truly fix the issue was to uninstall and reinstall the Sound Card. Follow the directions below to accomplish this.

1) Open Device Manager by Right-clicking on My Computer and choosing Properties. Then click on Device Manager

2) Under the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers section, Right-click on Realtek High Definition Audio and then click on Uninstall.

3) Close the Device Manager and Reboot your computer

4) After the computer reboots, allow it to automatically find the Realtek audio device on its own and reinstall the drivers. You may be required to reboot the computer a second time after the drivers for the sound card load.

5) Test the sound card by playing an MP3, WAV, WMA, or other sound or by watching a video online.

The problem should be fixed. If for some reason, you are still experiencing a chipmunk-like sound coming from your speakers, visit the sound card manufacturers website and download and install new drivers for the sound card.

My music sounds like chipmunk.Why?

Install a set of Codecs. This is a small set of Standard Programs that allow the correct interpretation of the Audio and video files used on your computer. KLcodecs is a good place to start. They are free and should cover the vast majority of file formats.

I have a dell gx260 all my web video sound like chipmunks , media player works fine and i did all the troubleshoot test and it works just fine . The main problem is the web content all sound like chipmunks...

Hi.
This is usually caused by a missing codec, so the computer tries to compensate, and the results aren't always acceptable.

I would download a codec package called K-Lite codec pack, it has every codec needed.

Here is a link for it.

http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm

Click on the direct download selection there on the page, and it will download an installer with all the codecs.

Run the program after it is done downloading, and then after running it, reboot your computer.

There is a selection for 64 bit on the page as well, in case you are running 64 bit operating system.

Once rebooted, your chipmunk audio problem should be resolved.

I hope this helps you out, and have a good day.
