Looking for new coil system

I am pretty sure it's an '86 and definitely not a '96. I don't think that part # is correct unless I am going to eliminate both pieces of the ignition system or make some type of modification. the secondary ignition system or coil pack has 2 wires, 1 that attaches to the module and the spark plug wire. The bolt pattern doesn't look like it matches up to what I have. My saw has the 2 piece system and from what I can see, I believe it's (Module =Original Part #501516101 has been superceded to: Part# 501516102 ) and (Coil = Part# 501516201) from Jack's Smalll Engines.

Now if that part allows me to eliminate the 2 piece system, then by all means, please let me know. the plug wire looks a little short to make it to the plug from the current location n the flywheel. Again, I hate to replace both pieces if I have to stay with the 2 piece system due to the cost of almost $200 for both, which seems to be about the best I can find, maybe a few bucks less with shipping

I have a husqvarna model 45 the serial number is 0090026 how do I tell what year it was manufactured ?

Before the year 200, the first digit would denote the year of manufacture, and the second two digits the week within that year, the final numbers would be the number of machines produced in that year, that week. up to that machine, this was done in a ten year rotation, so 0 could be 1980/1990, so i would say your machine was produced in 1990 week nine, and was 26 off the production line.

Looking at buying a Husqvarna 55 Special pro. The serial number is 1998 8510004. The seller tells me he bought it in the 2000s, is it true.

Ask to see the sales receipt if you are in need of proof of purchase date. Even contacting Husqvarna to ask when it was registered may not be the actual purchase date. I saw a question not long ago about a saw that was purchased new that had been out of production for a couple of years. It is possible it sat on a dealer's shelf for a period.

Looking at the serial, it was manufactured in 1998, the 51st week (Dec), and was the 4th product that week.

I have pole saw model 108526-01 I need a new chain and a cap and bulb assembly where can I get these parts?

The good news is:
Your manual containing a parts list can be found here:
http://lawnandgarden.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/remington/100089-04_5.html
There is an IPL near the bottom, please save copy to your hard drive.

The part number for the oil cap & bulb assembly is 107319-02, I found it here:
http://www.remingtonpowertools.com/products.cgi?cat=11
I make no guarantees about availability. If you take the existing chain to a local chainsaw seller/mechanic they can almost certainly use it as a pattern to make a new chain

The bad news is:
Remington Power Tools have ceased production. Parts availability is limited to what is on hand. I recommend rather than purchase parts for this discontinued brand you put the funds toward the purchase of a new saw. Poulan offers 8 different electric models, have been in business for a very long time and are a subsidiary of Husqvarna. HTH
Lou
We can provide no further help for your saw.

Cant figure out what year my saw is?

I think you have the model number. The first digit of the serial number is the year. If that is indeed the sn then it was made in 89 or 99.
sn 04 1800265 (04 - year) (18 - week) (00265 - 265th saw that week) pretty clever these Swedes.
