Either use a crimp tool to repair the cable or buy one at any local computer shop (or online). It is called an IDE cable (44 pin more than likely). Hope this helps.

Asus x502 remove battery

Remove the black screws underneath. Lift off keyboard from top (clips on about every inch, just pull gently). Carefully note how the keyboard ribbon leads (2no.) connect to the motherboard. Remove ribbon lead over battery (yes the battery it is the full length black thing nearest the front). Remove the silver screws holding the battery. The battery disconnects by pulling straight up (say using your nail) from the motherboard. Refit is reverse, small black screws go in the front. Remember and connect up the keyboard ribbons before you boot up or the mousepad will not be detected.

I have the replacement keyboard for the gateway NV54 laptop. I need basic instructions on removing the old keyboard and unstalling the new keyboard. Can anybody help because Gateway can't help so far.

All them are pretty basically the same. Pull out power cord and battery... Remove the bezel piece top of the keyboard "the thing the power button sits in". When you remove it there should be 2 screws very tiny holding the keyboard down remove them. Under the keyboard there will be the power ribbon DO NOT JUST PULL IT OUT!! There will be like a brown/white clip that locks the ribbon to the board. The brown may be black or even blue that is the locking piece. Carefully lift the clip up and gently pull the ribbon out. If its stuck you have not unlocked it. Pull the old keyboard out and repeat the steps backwards.

Need to take old keyboard off, put new one on

use a flat piece of plastic to gently prise the clips surrounding the keyboard(first find the correct position of these clips around the keyboard)then lift out carefully,,you wont have much leeway once the keyboard is free as usually there is a ribbon type cable that needs to be released from another plastic type socket that is very fragile and will again need releasing most likely by another plastic clip that holds the ribbon to the socket--watch out this will easily break so use a small screwdriver very gently, and take care to notice position of all components.Replacement is just a reversal of this procedure.

I fitted a new keyboard to my Acer Aspire 5630 laptop. The clip that holds the ribbon in broke as I was refitting it. I have tried to find another one, but with no success. Any ideas where I might get one?...

You should be able to this type of clip at any large electronics store, such as Fry's. You are going to have to find the right pin count, which may be a chore, but all you need is the clip and not the connector portion, even though you will need to purchase both. Check out this link.

You may also wish to contact Acer and try to order the replacement part, but I am not sure if they will sell such an inexpensive part by itself. (Min. Order).

Changing keyboard on Fujitsu T5010

Remove the square screw covers above the keyboard on either side of the swiveling screen hinge. Unscrew the 2 screws and use a small flat head screw driver to remove the plastic cover above the keyboard. Do this by inserting the screw driver underneath the plastic cover near to the f keys on the keyboard and gently pop the cover off. Carefully remove the ribbon from the motherboard, use a small screw driver to release the clip that holds the ribbon in place (ribbon located above f3,f4 keys). Slide the keyboard up and it should release if it doesn't then there may be some sticky tape holding the keyboard down, this is located behind the f2,f3,f4,f5 keys, carefully pull the keyboard away but hold the keyboard by the f keys so that you do not damage the keyboard by bending it. Reverse the procedure to fit new keyboard

Laptop keyboard doesnt work, extensa 5220 laptop . keyboard keys do nothing, boots up fine , and mouse functions fine, can get on facebook , but cant type anything.

Either something got spilled in it or the connection ribbon got jossled lose. The top power bezel should be in with clip snaps. Remove it then the keyboard should pop up after you lightly squeeze the sides in. Look under the keyboard there is a ribbon that connects with a lock snap. Lightly push the lock clip up and push the ribbon back in and snap the clip back on. Do not put it all together yet try booting it apart and try the keyboard. If it still doesnt work power down remove battery unplug it and finish removing the keyboard order u a new 1. They run around $20 brand new.

How do i install a keyboard for an acer aspire 3680

If you turn the laptop upside down you will find approx 4 screws that hold the plastic just above the keyboard remove them and lift off the plastic cover, you can then access the keyboard that is only clipped into the laptop,,be carefull of the ribbon cable attached to it as you now have to disconnect the ribbon cable and then refit the new keyboard and plastic in reverese order....

Keyboard removal

Follow this Instructions carefully and do this step by step, you will be able to remove your keyboard.

looked under the battery cover. There you will find three black screws which appeared to correspond to the cover above the keyboard on the upper side of the laptop. After removing the three black screws, begin levering up the edge of the fascia panel nearest the keyboard. This panel serves to hold the keyboard in place, it also comprises the button cover for the power switchgear and grilles for the speakers. use a fine jewelers screwdriver to carefully lever the panel up. Again, it’s a series of brittle-looking plastic clips.
Once the bottom edge of the cover is freed, lift it away from the top edge to reveal the clips that hold the keyboard in place (set of plastic tabs holding the top edge of the keyboard).
Again, with the jeweler’s driver, level the top edge of the keyboard from the retaining tabs and not knowing how much ribbon cable existed, carefully rotate the keyboard up.
As it turns out, remove the cable. To release the ribbon cable, you have to carefully lever the dark/black locking collar back along the ribbon until it is out of the socket. After carefully memorizing the way the cable fits, withdraw the ribbon.
Good luck!
