You can try booting into "Safe Mode" by tapping the F8 key while the computer is booting. If you can get in this way it is probably your video drivers.

Windows is not loading have black screen with white cursor then goes to acer and fast out again to white cursor

Hello, doing a "last known good configuration" Works most of the time. Here is how to do it:

1. Make sure your computer is powered down.

2. Turn your computer on and immediately start pressing F8 on your keyboard repeatedly until you see a black screen with white writing that gives you a list of boot options.

3. Use the down arrow on your keyboard to select the Last Known Good Configuration (Advanced) option.

4. Press Enter on your keyboard and cross your fingers.

Good Luck!

My HP Pavilion a 1600n wont let me long on goes to a black page tells me to press "r" for recovery i have no HP Pavilion a 1600n installation disc

k when the computer first boots up hit f8 or shift f8 to get to advance options . move arrows to last known good configuration. if that fails to get you on desk top you will most likely need to call hp and get replacement disks to reinstall the missing or currupted drivers. your NTloader is not reading from your master boot record that is why your getting this.

The screen has a black background with pulsing multi-colored lines running horizontaly across the screen. I will sometimes see the game logo screen with the producing company and sometimes see the login...

Okay, first off I wanted to confirm that this only happens with new games, or do the lines occur all the time? Did this start after you attempted to load a game? If so it could be that your monitor is over clocking meaning that it is trying to refresh the screen so much faster than it can handle it is producing those lines. But I need the answers to the above questions in order to continue to diagnose the problem.

This error message may appear when the computer BIOS is set to boot from a network and cannot find a bootable operating system on the network or on any of the storage devices included in the notebook PC's boot path.

The following steps are for most HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario Notebook PCs. The boot order can be configured on the Advanced tab in the BIOS settings menu. The steps to modify the boot order may vary depending on the model of your computer. On most HP notebooks the boot order can be configured using the following steps:
  1. Turn on or restart the computer.
  2. While the display is blank, press the F10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu. NOTE: Some notebook PCs use the F2 or F6 key.
  3. Use the right and left arrow keys to select the Advanced tab.
  4. Use the up and down arrow keys to select Boot Order .
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the boot order.
Reset the boot order to the default settings Use the following steps to reset the boot order to the default settings:
  1. Turn on or restart the computer.
  2. While the display is blank, press the F10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu.
  3. Press the F9 key to reset the BIOS to default settings.
  4. Press the F10 to save the changes and exit the BIOS settings menu.

I think it will you to fix your problem.
If still have problem then tell me more about it.
