If you have windows xp; open control panel and press on printers and faxes, look to the right hand and click add printer choose local since you have local network and keep automatic dectect slected so it can find your conncted printers , then choose the port type, if u use parallel cable, or usb, but if its Ethernet cable you have to select create new port and select tcp ip. then afer that you can look for ur printr under the brands but if its not there u can press have disk and browse to your disk and choose the print driver and next next till it finish.

let me know wat happen after.

Reasons why you can get error 22 on network printer:

1. I/O configuration for the computer or printer is incorrect.

2. Wrong or damaged ethernet cable.

3. Computer is powered off.

4. Damaged printer I/O port.

5. The printer's EIO card in slot X has overflowed its I/O buffer during a busy state.

6. This error can occur if the driver you are using is not IEEE-1284 compliant.

7. Indicates the parallel buffer has overflowed.

8. Firewall issues

If the printer prints fine on one computer you can limit to :

1. I/O configuration for the computer or printer is incorrect.
2. Wrong or damaged ethernet cable.

6. This error can occur if the driver you are using is not IEEE-1284 compliant.

8. Firewall issues

Try replacing the ethernet cable from computer to network.

Try reinstalling the printer driver on the computer that is not working. To do this
unplug printer usb.
delete the printer from installed printers.
Install network printer again using driver disk or driver download.

If it prints out a page of gibberish, then it is either printer cable or bad printer driver.

The ethernet cable can be tested using a cable tester, however is uncommon, since the computer is working on the network and it is not slow.

I think that the printer drivers installed on one of the two computer is not working.

Also try inverting computer connections to the switch, if printer does the same on other computer replace the switch, this is the same if switch is ethernet switch or usb/parallel switch.

If it is not that , as said ,

    • unplug printer cable..

    • go to control panel.

    • find installed printer.

    • Remove all versions of this printer.

    • Reinstall drivers using printer disk.

    • If you are using printer on ethernet (local network) switch configure printer as network printer.

    • If you are using USB/Parallel switch connect printer directly to computer when asked by setup program.

I disconnected the hp officejet all-in-one from my computer and later reconnected it. Now it thinks its a fax machine, and won't print from the computer.

it (Hp officejet 4315v series FAX) must be set to default that's why it would not print. The default printer should be the Hp officejet 4315v series, the one without the word fax in the end.
Here's how you do it:
for windows XP operating system
  1. click on the start button on your computer.
  2. click on printers and faxes. If it is not on the start-up list you can click on control panel ,click on printers and faxes or printers and other hardware.
  3. in printers and faxes,it will display all the printers installed on your computer
  4. look for officejet 4315v series or officejet 4300v series then right-click on it's printer icon then left- click on set as default.
  5. try printing from the computer.

for windows vista operating system
  1. click on the start button on the computer
  2. in the search box, type in printers, hit enter key on the keyboard.
  3. in printers,it will display all the printers installed on your computer
  4. look for officejet 4315v series or officejet 4300v series then right-click on it's printer icon then left- click on set as default.
  5. try printing from the computer.

If it does not print download the print diagnostic utility from the hp website. It is a helpful tool in diagnosing printing problems.I will provide you the link.

Hi ron0911170:
This is your problem.
10.92.YY CARTRIDGES
NOT ENGAGED
alternates with
Open and close
front door.
The cartridges are not engaged,
poor primary transfer bias contacts,
defective high-voltage supply, or
control signal errors.
YY Description:
00 - Black print cartridge
01 - Cyan print cartridge
02 - Magenta print cartridge
03 - Yellow print cartridge
1. Open and close the front door to fully
engage the cartridges.
2. Reseat the print cartridges.
3. Check the printer primary transfer bias
contacts to the transfer unit. Clean if
dirty. If the contracts cannot be
cleaned or they are damaged, replace
the transfer unit.
4. Replace the high-voltage power supply
PCB.
5. Replace the DC controller PCB.
Hope this helps

HP Printer will not print!

Hi,

It is really my first time to encounter that particular message that the "directory needed is unavailable". Here are the things that i want you to check.

1. Make sure that you logon to your computer using the Administrator previlege. That way, it will allow you to install and uninstall programs or softwares without any warnings.
2. Try to open the controlpanel>>> go the Printers and faxes>>> then make sure that the HP Deskjet F300 series has a check mark and it says READY.
3. If it doesnt say ready, right click the printer icon and it will give you option "USE PRINTER ONLINE". click on that.
4. Now, try printing a document.

Note: if the issue still not resolve, please give me further informations about the operating system, when you tried to print does it stays on the printing queue?

Thank you so much

Two weeks ago my computer creashed, lost everything,a technican has reprogramed most stuff,my printer does'nt print from the computer, its all hooked up,the technican gave me a Epson stylus C20 Series...

I have no clue why he would give you an Epson disc. Anyway, you can download your driver from HP's Site.

1. Unplug USB cable to printer, then from Control Panel > Printers delete any printers there.
2. Reboot
3. Install new drivers from the site above.
4. Plug USB cable back in.

Enjoy

C3140 PRINTER NOT PRINTING - HELP

How long ago did you purchase the printer? Does it have the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo on the box? If not, it won't work with Vista at all. I checked Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility List and it says the HP Photosmart C3100 series is *certified* with Vista, however it does not say it *works* with Vista. http://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/ProductDetails.aspx?m=v&g=d&cid=900&sv=&f=86p&pn=HP%20Photosmart%20C3100%20series&oid=31 Per the link, the driver may be part of the Windows Update. Give that a try, as well as HP's website. Otherwise you may need to take it back and exchange it for a Vista-certified printer. Let me know how it works out!
