Question about Apple Audio Players & Recorders

Itouch is completely black, it seems to be dead.....

I got my son an itouch for Christmas, it's only 4 months old (didn't buy warrenty) the screen went black and I can't even tell if it's on. Please help...... We have tried connecting to the computer but that didn't work.

Hi there,

there are lots of steps you can take.

The good news is that your ipod is under warrenty for 1 year from the date of purches.

Please make sure your ipod is charged. Leave it connected to the computer for at least 24 hours.

Make sure you connect the ipod via a USB port dirrectly on your computer, not through a hub, or a keyboard or any other device.

The ipod should show up in itunes and i would suggest updating the firmware by selecting check for update, and maybe even restoring the ipod.

If the computer wont find it, try connecting the ipod and entering DFU mode.

Here is a step by step guide on how to do that. Although the guide says it is for the iphone, it is basically the same for the ipod touch.

Please dont attempt to open up the ipod yourself, as it will instantly void the warrenty.

if you wish to return the ipod for service, you can find a local apple reseller by calling apple on 1-800-MY-APPLE

Cannont transfer podcasts to itouch from itunes


It could be a bad file. If you're resetting your device, and then adding you music and such back, there may be some bad song, or app that is corrupting your device. On my Mp3 player, it would get stuck on a song that wasn't really there, so I found some corrupt goofy Weird Al song, removed it, and it never happened again.

have you tried to recover your itouch with your itunes? when you do the update? What was the last thing that you did with your laptop?

try to plug the itouch into a charger/computer.

My son got the itouch for christmas, replacing his older ipod and when he connects to his laptop and goes to the itunes screen, not only does the itouch not sign in, he gets a message that says "camera...


well when i connect my ipod it also says camera i think thats just something it does but as for the itunes i belive its 1 ipod per computer if you have another computer it should work on there

Sounds dead to me. My best advise is to sell it on eBay, be honest about the problems because buyers can bite you in to **** if you aren't, take that money and buy a refurbished one direct from apple.com with the same warrenty that a new one has. You can find out more about the warrenty on apple.com/store and scroll all the way to the bottom left of the page. You can get anything from a shuffle to an itouch for alot less. Good luck
