Question about Creative Labs Inspire T3030 Computer Speakers

Speakers work with ipod not with laptop

I have a Dell inspiron 1525. I have pluged the Logitech X-240 speakers into the mic jack on the front of the computer. No sound comes out of the logitech speakers. I don't seem to have any other jacks except 2 headphones and one mic. A Sigmatel audio control panel pops up when I plug the line in. It wants me to select whether I've just plugged in a 'line in', 'mic' or 'rear speakers'. I've tried all.

There doesn't seem to be any intallation process, nor does the instructions have any- but it does work with my ipod! Help! i've got the same problem. just bought some new speakers for my inspiron 1525, and plugging them into the headphone point (where i had my others plugged into), it doesn't work. have used the speakers on another laptop so i know that it's not the speakers which are at fault here. when i plug it into the headphone/speaker port the music just keeps playing out of my laptop rather than through them, and when i plug the speakers into another one of the two other ports it comes up with that sigmatel audio popup. it's driving me mad! help!
speakers are creative inspire t10 (had to select a different one because this website was adamant these speakers didn't exist)

I have no sound

Try different speakers which you know are working if possible.
If the good speakers are also not working, then your Logitech speakers may be ok. Try plugging them into a different device such as iPod headphone jack, stereo headphone jack, etc.
Let me know how you go.
Hope this helps, Benji

My speakers don't work, I can plug in head phones or external speakers and they do work. it started after my son repeatedly pluged and unpluged the external speakers

There is a microswitch in the speaker jack of the system. It disables the on-board speakers when external speakers are connected. If sounds like that switch is stuck and the on-board speakers are staying disabled when the jack is removed.

Laptop dell inspiron 1525 sound only when headphones connected

If you can here sound in headphones, but not through the speakers, most likely the phone jack switch is bad. The whole jack needs replacement.
Also, in some cases, it could be more then that, like Audio CODEC chip on motherboard is bad, but lets assume the best.

Speakers work with ipod not with laptop

First thing, you have plugged in to the wrong point, plug in the speaker to the headphone slot(mostly light green in color).

MIC point is specifically for MIC not speakers.

The point which works for your headphones would work perfectly for speakers.
