Dell 1720dn load paper light is on, it is solid and not flashing. It acts as if the paper is out, but paper is full. Thanks, Darrell

Thanks I did try that however, I left it off and unplugged during lunch and when I came back the load paper light still comes on.

I was wondering if it has some type of sensor.

I have the same problem. It looks like the motor is not pulling the rollers down to pick up the paper. I have to keep opening and closing the bottom tray until the load paper error disappears. It usually takes me couple of tries. It has to be a sensor issue. Not sure what it is. Please help.

    Thank you,

    Vlad

Trying Power-Cycling. Leave the device unplugged for 5-10 minutes (In the on position if possible.)

I replaced the Imaging Durm, but the light is still flashing w/ the error light. It's a Dell 1720dn Service Tag 25MS7D1

Did you reset the counter?
After you replace the imaging drum, you should reset the imaging drum's counter. To reset the counter, press and hold the Cancel button cancel_button_0.jpg until all lights flash in sequence.

I hope this helps.

Load Paper light

You need to clean the feed roller, if you take out the paper tray and tip the printer on it's back you can see the roller and clean with just a damp cloth and try printing again...

I need to print 5X8 index cards on my Dell 1720dn. No matter how I load the cards, it says I'm out of paper

Are you using the manual feed slot in front of the printer and setting the paper size properly in your software? 3x5 is supported by Dell so this should work.

Replaced drum on Dell 1720dn printer. Where is

This should fix the drum light being on that 1720

Turn off the power using the switch on the back of the printer. Open the front door of the printer. Hold Continue button down, power on the printer, and continue to holding Continue down until the LEDs begin to flash. When the LEDs start to flash, release Continue button. The LEDs will continue flashing until only Error LED will be lit. Close the front door. Continue, Ready/Data, Toner Low and Load Paper LEDs should be lit. Wait till the printer completes the POST process. POST is complete when fan noise and rollers stops. After POST wait for 5 seconds Press Cancel button 4 times slowly until the Toner Low LED is lit. This is the procedure resetting the counter. Press and hold Continue until all LEDs begin to cycle in sequence, then release Continue. Now only the Toner Low LED will be lit. Cycle the power of the printer: Remove the power cable - Wait for 5 seconds - Plug the power cable back to the printer - Power the Printer on.

Dell 1720dn Error and Toner light on

After replacing the drum unit you have to tell the printer that you've done it(it's not smart enough to figure it out itself). Have the front door open and press and hold the Cancel button on the printer until all lights flash in sequence then let go. Then close door and try.
