What is the version of black cartridge? It could be that your cartridge is not seated properly in the carrier or just needs some cleaning. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. Close the printer cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power source to reset it. Manually wipe the nozzles on the cartridges with a soft moistened cloth to remove dirts and clogs. Re-insert them in the printer. Then try to print again.

How to reset lexmark c540 toner low?

    Hi there

Open the ink cartridge door above the paper output tray on your Lexmark printer.

Push the release tab behind the ink cartridge to remove it. Pull the cartridge straight out of the ink compartment.

Pull the protective tape off the bottom of the new ink cartridge. Insert the new cartridge into the compartment and press it back until it locks into the compartment.

Close the ink cartridge door. Push the arrow button on the keypad to select either "Standard" or "High Yield" based on the type of cartridge you installed. Press "Select" when the proper type displays.

Colored ink is smearing on the page when I print

Did you change the toner?Developer unit? When did it occured?

FIRST: the copier must be cleaned and vacumed, it may be that toner falls onto transfer section and that causes the problem, you may also have problem with yellow developing unit or drum or transfer cleaning blade.

The printed pages have pink blotches on the right hand side of the paper and horizontal pink blotches down the page

Try cleaning the color or magenta cartridge with rubbing alcohol and look inside the printer to see if there's pooled ink anywhere that is smearing on the paper. Try replacing the print head or cartridge.

    Printing

Check on your color (not mono) ink levels. If they are low, this could cause this.

Technical info: On this printer, envelope text is printed in "composite black" which means we mix the colored inks to make black. This is done for envelopes and not letters because of the ink properties which resist water and smear. If one of the colors is low, you'll get something other than black.

Recently refilled cartridge #70 on a Lexmark x125 all-in-one printer/fax machine. tried test page and getting smears and streaks at bottom of page. test colored strips solid but black strips lines. do...

It sounds like bad cartridge. Inkjet refilling only works sometimes, If there was any old ink in the cartridge there could be a bad mix or even dried ink getting into the head

    Error#1203

Check to see if any ink is smeared inside the holder where the contact panel is located. Normally gold contacts.
Clean off the contacts with a paper towel or q-tip.
Then try reprinting the alignment page. Then print the test page a few times.

    Hope this helps
