Re: Dryer not working

There are some switches that have to be closed before the hit start WILL FUNCTION. Most obvious is the door switch. a thermal overload in the motor circuit may have opened preventing power getting to the motor. check the overload in the blower housing. just jump it out with a piece of wire [temporarily] if it starts, replace the overload.

Where is the igniter located on a ge profile dryer

You need to take the front off the dryer and it will be alongside the gas tube going inside the combustion chamber. The igniter is one of those curly wand types and has a quick disconnect connector on it and is secured with a couple of screws.

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

We have a GE Prodigy clothes dryer that makes a very loud sqeacking noise when it runs

sounds like a rear drum bearing thats gone bad very common with these units, the front bearing and slides should also be checked for wear at the same time,to replace bearing in back drum has to be removed completely. if your handy with tool and have and afternoon to kill its not that bad ,just rember to UNPLUG UNIT BEFORE ANY WORK

GE dryer won't start up - sounds like the drum is stuck.

unplug it,open the door and look'll see two screws, take them out and remove the top panel, then look around three or four inches down from the top and removetwo more screws, one on each side, this is harder than most dryers to work on,not much room to reach under the drum to remove and reinstall the belt, there's also one more screw down on the right hand side below the drum that has to come out also, just remember how you took it apart,if you start it and hear a loud humming sound that's the motor, hope this helps you

How do you take the front panel off of a GE Profile Prodigy Dryer DPSR483 GAWW? There is a squeeking noise inside.

Best off to call a reliable service company such as Sears. You have to remove the top and take 2 screws off that hold the front panel on but this is a gas appliance which requires a gas technician to legally work on it.
