Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a HP Pavillon 17 inch Laptop. It is two years old and recently when I power up the laptop I see a flickering on the screen ( the flickering is like the image is breaking up and parts are "mis-alligned" and the color is off a bit ( white images are now off-white ). The color issue will come and go but the flickering only happens when it is turned on and then stops.

Try to connect your Laptop with an external Monitor... if the external monitor also flickers then its an Software problem, please try the following:

  • If your screen refresh rate is too low, you will see flicker. Right click an empty area on your desktop and click properties. Click the Settings Tab (top row of tabs) on the Display Properties window and then click Advanced, click Monitor and make sure your refresh rate is set to 60.
  • If that doesnt help you need to uninstall and reinstall the Grafics driver.

Hp 2509m screen flicker

Hi Kevin,
My daughter has the same problem with her laptop, do you find that when you move the screen slowly back and forth it either stops or gets worse ?
You will need to take your laptop in to an HP dealer and let them have a look at it.
Regards :)

My hp vf15 monitor flickers on and off when it is plugged

17-inch CRT?

Ask your friends -- one of them probably has a "surplus" 17-inch CRT that they will _love_ to give-away to you, to replace yours.

Or, look on CRAIGS LIST for a used 17" LCD screen, for $30 to $40.

Bought new power cord for pavillon dv 1000 and

If the laptop runs on batter but cannot run on the AC adapter, you have a broken DC Jack. If you laptop cannot power up with the battery or flash low battery indicator, you laptop is dead.

My hp pavilion dv9000 17 power on but see black screen

If your 9000 is under two years old, you should contact HP customer care and have unit serviced under warranty.
HP has had allot of problems with the 6000 and 9000 units and in response has offered an additional year from date of purchase.
Its worth a shut. Doesn't cost a dime.
Hope this information has helped you.

I have a HP Pavillon DV 2000 (DV2315 NR) since

My laptop screen is flickering

You most likely have a defective inverter that supplies high voltage to CCFL backlight. It is unlikely a faulty CCFL lamp because your laptop is approx 1yr. old.

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is the inverter or backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
