On the bro 2820 you can disable the sleep mode by entering "menu/set", "1", "6", "2" then pressing "start" and "options" simultaneously. next, press "stop/exit" key once or twice to back out of the menu mode. you'll have to turn off machine, then back on for settings to take affect.

have you installed the PROPER Vista driver? Or just used the install disk that may have come with your machine years ago, and may not be designed for "Vista". Go to sharp and download the proper driver, or at least see if it is supported.

Lanier MPC 3000 copier won't print faxes

Try opening up your web browser and type in the ip address of your lanier.
You should to access the facsimile function located on the left side. Once youre in the facsimile function, you should see a thumbnail view of the faxes stored in your lanier. Simply click on the faxes and delete them.

Printer locked up, now won't print on network

It is possible that everyone else on the network has left their previous documents sitting in the print queue. Ask all your users to double-click the little printer icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the desktop screen to see if they have print jobs queued. If so, ask them to cancel the print jobs. I hope that sorts it.

BROTHER FAX MACHINE 2800

Your Brother machine#s Sleep Mode function reduces power consumption while the machine is idle. You can adjust how long your Brother machine is idle (between 00 and 99 minutes) before Sleep Mode is initiated. Please note that the default setting is 00 minutes, and the timer automatically resets itself after the Brother machine receives a fax, receives data from your PC, or makes a copy. To adjust your Brother machine#s Sleep Mode setting, please follow these steps:

1. Press MENU/SET, 1 (General Setup), 7 (Sleep Mode).

2. Use the dial pad to enter the amount of time the fax machine is idle before Sleep Mode is initiated (00 to 99 minutes).

3. Press the MENU/SET key to confirm your choice.

4. Press the STOP/EXIT key to exit the menu.

NOTE: If you frequently print, copy, or fax, set the idle time long
enough to insure that you will not always have to wait for the Brother machine to warm up.

Infrequent use of Xerox Phaser 8500

The reason he told you that is because ;
if left on permanently the fuser unit has a lamp ( nowadays the newer ones use a ceramic) the lamp continually comes on to keep the fuser warm and ready for you to print.which may cause the lamp to burn prematurely, most business keep theirs on all day with out the sleep mode( too busy to wait to warm up),

But, when you use the sleep mode most models do not turn on the lamp ( if it does it only puts out minimal power) but keep the power ready, which is why when you go to print it takes awhile to warm up.
The lamps are very resilient and last several years before having to change.
