Question about Brother MFC 9180 All-In-One Laser Printer
I have inherited a Brother MFC-9180 when you scan, print, or copy it leaves bold lines across the paper usually three lines on every A4 paper using the fax machine it does not do this and i wondered if you could tell me why it does this and is there anything i can do to get rid of these lines. Thanks Janet
I realise this is probably too late for you Janet and you will have bought a new drum unit by now or replaced the printer! The three lines appeared on my print-out from a new drum I installed and after investigation it transpired that there was some toner residue that had dried on the drum (from testing at manufacture stage probably) and reprinted three bold lines on a sheet of A4. The solution is to use a soft piece of cloth and rub the lines off the drum through the gap at the front of the drum unit. The drum can be rotated by turning the gear cog on the side, then once the reside has been removed from the drum and it is clean, the lines will have disappeared. I wouldn't use any solution on the drum, just gentle rubbing should suffice.
