Hi,
if you have already reseated the cartridge and tried a different one. Then the problem is with print head that would require an replacement.
Canon support has a print head replacement (it's the black thing that the ink cartridges sit in) for about $50 including UPS ground shipping. Their phone number is 1-800-828-4040, part number is QY6-0049-000.

The message can be caused , if you have used a refilled cartridge in place of a new one.

Thanks
proton

That happens when the print head sensor does not detect the cartridge.

To start unplug printer power cord for two minutes, and see if this can reset the error.

The wrong cartridge error may be caused also by a bad cartridge, therefore ,as first step you need to est a different cartridge, possibly a new original one.

Check also if the cartridge metal sensor inside the ink carriage is dirty and must be clean, in this case use isopropyl alcohol and cotton to clean metal contacts inside the carriage.

If that cannot fix the problem, then there is a lose connection on the wires connected to the ink carriage / print head assembly. TWhen that happens, the wires connected at the back of the ink carriage must be tested and eventually replaced.

Have replaced cartridge with one of my refilled cartridges in a canon PIXMA MP830, and am getting an alarm U071,that reads "more than one ink tank of the following color is installed". This is of course...

Printers have a mechanism to detect refilled cartridges. By default it does not accept refilled ones. But there's a work around. Have a set of two (preferably 3) cartridges , refill and cycle them. This way the printer wont be able to detect that you have inserted a refilled cartridge.

Alarm message says "wrong cartridge". All cartridges are correct

On Canon, wrong cartridge means the printhead has gone bad, not your inks. The printhead is part number
QY6-0034-000 around $50.00.

You just need a new printhead, wrong cartridge on a Canon means the printhead is worn out.

"Wrong Cartridge"...alarm still flashing

you have the wrong cartridge type in the printer or you have it in incorrectly , i would need the name of the printer and the name/number on the cartridge to tell you which it is, but it's one of the two
