Question about Sennheiser 100/500 G2 Series Wireless Combo Kit EW150ENGG2C Microphone

2 Answers

We have a Sennheiserew100 G2 mic kit with a wireless lav mic and transmitter we use for a canon xh-a1. The shotgun mic has been prefect but the lav mic is creating a static/noise in the background but then gets really loud at some points then fades away. Do you know how to fix this?

Sennheiser goofed with this 3 conductor mini plug. It doesn't make perfect contact. Sending phantom power to the lav is hit or miss. Connectors corrode static static static all because the connector isn't making perfect contact. It isn't as good as a XLR for sure.

Its not a RF problem.I could switch freqs all day long and it won't solve anything. The 3.5 mm plug does not make solid contact. When they start to go bad it sounds like a thunderstorn. It can't be depended on. Now we know why the broadcast industry refuses to use them.

This is probably interference in the wireless connection for the lavalier mic.
Try switching channels to find a clear one!
Or switch to a wired lav mic if that's practical.

but I think it's something to do with the mic jack on the transmitter. Some units solder these connectors directly to the internal PC board and after a while, the solder connections break. Have a tech open it up and closely inspect the input jack's solder pads.

Why won't my Canon XH A1 power up

The most likely cause is a component failure in the power circuit. This can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not really a user serviceable problem and should be looked at by a qualified technician. Here is a link to a repair shop that should be able to help you.

How do I use 2 mics for the XL2 simultaneously?

Hi, on the left side of the camera you can set 'audio monitor'. Default is channel 1/2. You can choose to listen to 3/4 or 1/2 and 3/4 simultaneous.
In the menu of the cam you can set between 12 bit audio recording or 16 bit. 16 bit only records on channel 1/2 (the front mic). In 12 bit mode you can record audio on 4 channels.
hope this answers a bit of your question

You need to upgrade you ingest system. Windows Media Player(and your system card) probably can't handle the load. Try "Scenalyzer" it's economical, versatile and stable( http://scenalyzer.com/).
