Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

Computer wont go past start windows repairstart windows normally

I recently bought an emachines computer the model is EL1200-07w ive owned it for about two weeks. i put in a cd and everything was fine until i heard the disc drive speed up and my cd exploded. i had to go to work so i just took a couple of cd fragments out of the machine and didnt think to check to see if it still reads. so when i came from work i put in a cd again and it started to speed up so i quickly ejected it. i figured i need a new disc drive. so i bought a new disc driver.. i cant remember im not on my computer. so i also downloaded the nero program that came with it.. after it was done i restarted the computer. logged on and watched kung fu panda. i was turning it off so i opened command prompt entered the (chkdsk /f) command and set it so it starts up when my computer restarts. i restarted my computer and it did the scan. but next thing i saw was a split second flash of a blue screen and it goes to the run windows repair (recommended) and start windows normally window. i try to start windows normally i go back to this screen. i run the windows repair and it is only a black screen. after a few minutes i can then see the mouses cursur. when i do a hard shut down my computer mouse light and key board light are still on. the operating system is vista. i also want to know if i would be able to upload a new operating system without logging on to my computer.

Emachine el1331g-01w wont boot past windows it gets to the windows and reboots

instead of pressing F12, use F8, (pressing repeatedly,) you should see the Advanced Boot Options Menu. Select one of the "Safe Mode..." optiions.

if you get to the desktop, then restart the PC and see if it boots normally. if it does, great. Back-up your data.

If it does not, then power-down the PC. Disconnect the Power cord and all other cables excepting the keyboard and the mouse (unless using wireless ones.)

power up the the PC and see if it boots normally. if it does, then likely there is a Device Driver conflict going-on. You will need to power-off and connect your devices one at a time and power-on to find out which of them needs to be updated....or if you have current Drivers, then un-install and re-install the device Drivers.

Emachine when i turn it on says press f2 to start setup but ive tried it but it wont do anything why?

Some keyboards have an f-lock key that you enable quickly as the computer starts to boot. Only then will the F2 button work. If you are too slow to hit the f-lock key the computer will boot past the time window that allows you to enter the setup.

As the computer is only 2 months old, you should be able to contact Emachines and have
them send you a recovery disc out for the particular model. As the computer may seem identical, in most cases a recovery disc from your computer will not work because of a different
driver or some other small issue.
