Question about Crock Pots & Slow Cookers

1 Answer

I need a power supply cord for my westinghouse roaster oven - Cat. Nero 5411-1, 120 V, 1400 W. However, the numbers on the cord itself are 15A, 125V, 1575W. It is very old, but still has a paper sticker on the cord which reads ''Issue # BU1934'' The oven works well, but the plastic around the plug is cracked off and arching sounds are unnerving. Please help me find this part.

I wish all cords fit all cook pots, wouldn't be grand. But they don;t an they often get lost and miss guided. I would try looking at Thrift stores and Salvation Army stores , they have a lot of missed matched cord, cables I found one most recently for a fry pan for a friend of mine.they are very common ,only .50 cents. Happy hunting DFD

You can find replacement cords for counter top appliances at most hardware and building supply stores. Try Ace, Home Depot, Lowes. Take the cooker with you to make sure you get the correct cord.

Looking for a replacement electrical cord for a 6 qt Nesco Roaster - any ideas?

I have good luck looking in the yellow pages for "Appliances-Supplies & Parts" for a parts store. If you have one close, take the roaster with you to see if they can match the cord end

New Rival 22qt. Roaster Oven

If you want to use it for food tomorrow, you need to burn it in tonight; 1 hour or longer at 400 degrees, outside but protected, to burn off the factory oils, etc. If you cook in it without doing this, you will ruin the food (and the atmosphere) with bad smells.

This turkey is really bigger than Rival recommends for this roaster, so check the size/fit tonight, also. You need an inch all around for best cooking.

I use 325, not 375 as the Rival manual suggests, 4 hours for an unstuffed 18 pounder.

16Qt Roaster oven

Dear Lunders

I cannot recommend cooking a turkey in a crockpot for many reasons. I have always cooked turkeys at 200/225 degrees in the oven overnight. The secret is to seal the roaster with heavy duty foil with maybe a cup of water in the roaster, bake the bird upside down. Turn it over, increase the temperature, and uncover it for an hour before serving. Worked for me for 40 years, and the guests never complained.
