Power up the monitor first then the laptop and the video will switch automatically to the monitor.
The other way, when the laptop is powered up press the Fn key + F4 key, This toggles the video output between the LCD and the external video connector.

Aadab: when the moniter ON after few second the moniter is does not give display and when we on and off the moniter so then the picture displayed why this problem is occure.how i recover it.

That is because the settings on the power are set for the monitor to go to sleep if not in use.. It is a very quick and easy fix.. Just right click anywhere on the desktop that doesn't have any icons, the display properties box will appear, then click on screen saver under monitor power click on power, there you could set the monitor never to turn off... Let me know if this solved the problem and good luck..

What you should try at this point is shut everything down, Unplug your desktop, hook it back up to tour moniter and boot. If you now get a picture, go to your device manger and click on display adaptors. If you have more than one selection. choose your monitor. Let me know if this works.

Switch to alternate moniter using keys. original moniter is broken

Fn+F7 Toggles the display between the computer screen (LCD), a connected external display, and both the LCD and an
external display.
Select one display when playing a DVD. Connect the cable(s) before you turn on the computer; otherwise, Fn+F7 will not
work. You cannot use the Fn+F7 function to switch between the LCD and an external display once a DVD is inserted into
the optical drive.

I cannot get my moniter on my laptop to transfer over to my external moniter any more the function f7 key just does the windows beep and all i can get the moniter to do is extend across to the other screen...

Go to Control Panel>Display>Settings

Here you will find the various options for replicating or extending your display to another monitor.

You may need to 'experiment' as there are some pretty dodgy choice sequences required to get the result you want.

By the way, F8 is usually the function to toggle screens, not F7, but I don't know what machine or operating system you are using, so that could be wrong.

I hear the fan and the battery light is lite, but the screen is staying black. What should I do?

See if you can connect a Desktop Computer Moniter to the Laptops Serial Port.. Reboot The Laptop and Test If You Have External Video..
If You Can See Windows Booting From The External Monitor, Then You Have Either A Faulty Display Screen, Or Display Cable is Misseated or Faulty...
If you see no video when desktop monitor is plugged in, you have video card/chip issues

if its totaly blank , the first thing you should try is connecting it too an external moniter, that will rule out motherboard or graphics card problem if you get a display to an external moniter

Connect pc with moniter by DVI cable?

if you already have a cable, usually it's a hotkey on your laptop. Its Fn+F5 just look for the little monitor screen on your function keys, remember, it's two keys and press them until video is transfered to the Monitor. Usually have to press twice or three times.
