Well I assume you are placing a Blu-ray DVD in it right?
*See if the disc is not scratched .
*clean the disc with Banana, windex, and toothpaste (it worked on mine)
* try it a few times and see if it works

SOURCE: Play Station 3 40gb- Blueray lens is not reading discs

This is the number one problem with the PS3 so it's very common.

If you're in Ecuador I'd recommend fixing it yourself.

You can find tutorials on youtube and you can get a replacement laser on ebay.

First thing you need to do is take the PS3 apart and figure out which laser you have.

There are only two kinds.

If the bottom of the blu-ray drive is shiny then you have the KES-410A

If it's the other kind then you need KES-400A.

There are tutorials all over youtube on how to replace them.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

DO NOT SEND TO PSR1!!!! WORST COMPANY EVER! They promise so much but do NOT deliver. I am a real customer who was screwed out of $109. They are horrible. Please warn your friends. Do not let this business keep stealing from gamers, its WRONG!

Your display enviroment does not support protected content playback We are trying to play a blue Ray disc

First of all, do you have a BlueRay disc player in the computer, or just a DVD player? Also, from what I can tell, WinDVD 5 only supports DVD playback, not BlueRay. That may be why it's seeing "protected content". It just doesn't recognize the disc. If you do have a BlueRay player, you may need to upgrade to a newer version of WinDVD, or try some other software.

Sonybdp-s301 won't play 2012

Sony BDP-S301 has an upgrade to Version 5.3 to support the new Blu-ray discs. Download the software here (Click the link). Read the procedure carefully and follow it exactly.
Note: The update makes use of a burned, finalized CD DISK, not a DVD Disk.

It freezes when playing a blueray movie. it seems

The most likely cause of your frustration with the BDP-S350 is that your player's firmware is not the most current. Most often, the firmware problem is JAVA related and will not let the menus load at all, but freezing during playback has also been reportedly fixed with the firmware upgrade.

The solution is to go to sony's website, download the firmware upgrade, burn it to a disc and then load the disc into the player to fix it.

I hope that helps.

When tv is wired to media center and then to blueray dvd , disc will not play. Non blueray disc will play. When tv wired directly to blueray player, blueray disc runs fine. Cables are hdmi

Hi.

When you say disk will not play I assume the BRD player does not start playing.

If the Blue ray unit does not start at all and stays in stand by , then the HDMI cable you are using to connect to TV, or HDMI port on TV may be defective.
Try replacing cable and swapping HDMI ports.

Blu ray disc

BlueRay is a new high capacity disk storage media system. It has a much greater capacity than any of the other systems.

The blue laser light is of a much narrower beam width and higher speed computing technology, it is possible to now have a much greater capacity for data speed handling and data capacity.

All the new High Definition movies are coming out on BlueRay disks. To play these disks, a BlueRay player will be necessary.

The technology is moving at a faster rate all the time. In about five years, there is a newer system coming out that will even be ahead of the BlueRay. They are working on a new generation high speed plug-in memory modules at the consumer level. These modules will have their own full function microcontroler built in. The data will be using internal fiber optical pathways instead of metal conductive pathways. These will be much farther ahead than anything we have now.
