Question about Samsung CLP 315 Laser Printer

Brand New printer status led RED, Smart Panel error "dev home"

Its a brand new Samsung CLP 315. Brought it home, connected it to the computer, installed software from CD. But printer has Status LED "Red" and on the smart panel it shows error as "dev home" ; and advices to switch of the printer and try again after 10 minutes...

Samsung CLP-315 Dev Home error
It appears that the Dev. Home error is very common for Samsung printers. It obviously has different reasons. In my case I solved it by stabilizing the deviation clutch. It was too unsteady and the dev. sensor recognized a fault.
The dev. clutch is situated under the right cover, which is the power supply side of the printer. To remove this cover you need to firstly remove the top cover, which is held by two screws on the front. Then uncover the right side by unscrewing one screw on the back, near the power supply inlet and unclip a couple clips on the top side of the cover. After removing it you have to find the deviation electrical clutch. Check if it is too unsteady. If it easily moves, you need to somehow stabilize it, in my case by a couple of leather straps under it, so that they press it up and make it steady: Brand New printer status led RED, Smart Panel erro - 5_19_2012_1_08_58_pm.jpg

After that simply check if you have stabilized it properly. If you have the green light must turn on after switching the device on.

NB! Be extremely careful when power is ON, because there is high voltage running. I'd suggest that you would stabilize the thing with non metallic item to keep safe. Good luck!

I have been able to get my printer working by doing the following:

1. install latest drivers, for me this was ver.3.04.80:43
2. unplug usb cable from computer
3. unplug power cable from back of printer
4. open front cover and remove all toner cartridges
5. plug power cable back in and start printer up
6. replace all toner cartridges to their respective places and shut front cover
7. plug usb cable back into computer

after following these steps the error was cleared. yrmv.
please post if this solution works.

All the lights are flashing


When the status LED is flashing red, it means there is some minor error(i.e. the front door isn't latched shut, paper is jammed, etc) or the toner is getting low.

Double click on Smart Panel (the blue S in the task bar...it's installed with the driver) and it will tell you what the error is. For future reference, you can download the manual at our support site: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/CLP-300

I have a steady red light on my printer. I just put a new black cartridge in the printer and it will not print at all.


What does the Samsung Smart Panel say? It normally tells you what the problem is. Is the waste toner container full? If so, the printer does not work untill you empty it and put it back. You do not need to buy a new waste toner container. This is my third CLP-310/315 so I know what I´m talking about. The problem with the Samsung Smart Panel is that it uninstalls itself and the icon disappears and you must then ask the computer to repair it. When the Samsung Smart Panel is not working, of course you have no information about what is wrong in the printer. This has happened to me three times.

PRINTER IS A CLP-315. IT POWERS ON, BUT THE STATUS IS STEADY RED. THERE IS NO PAPER JAM. HOW CAN I CLEAR THIS?

I can't see my toner levels on my computer for my samsung clp 315 color laser printer


The problem with the Samsung Smart Panel is that it uninstalls itself and the icon disappears and you must then ask the computer to repair it. When the Samsung Smart Panel is not working, of course you have no information about what is wrong in the printer or info about toner levels. This has happened to me three times. This is my third CLP-310/315 so I know what I´m talking about.

Why is red light on samsung clp- 315 and it is not printing


Does one of these situations apply to you?

The Status LED light is Red and the Toner lights are OFF (Check Smart Panel for message)

  • A Paper Jam has occurred.
  • The Front, Top, or Back Cover is open.
  • There is no paper in the Paper Tray.
  • There is a problem with the Waste Toner container.
  • A major error has occured.

The Status LED light is Blinking/Flashing Red and the Toner light(s) are Red

  • The Toner cartridge(s) that are Red need to be replaced. (Can still be used to print, but quality is unreliable)

The Status LED light is Red and the Toner light(s) are Red

  • The Toner cartridge(s) that are Red need to be replaced. (Printing is not available)
  • The Toner cartridge(s) are not installed properly.

My samsung 315 clp has status LED red light on.


It is a color laser printer.it has 4 toner cartridge(1)black(2)magenta(3)cyan(4)yellow all cartridge is missing or toner finished.Please purchase full set toner.All toner cartridge has a image sensor.When toner is run out then it is out of work.

Samsung CLP-315 system error


Low heat error comes from the fuser unit, there is a thermostat on the fuser change that and it will work

try to do this set of instruction & solution:

  1. Go to Start | Control Panel | Printers And Other Hardware | Printers And Faxes. Double-click the icon for your printer to open the Documents window and clear any pending print jobs by selecting Cancel All Documents from the Printer drop-down menu
  2. Try printing a test page from the printer, not from Windows XP. Most printers have a built-in test function that's activated by holding down one or more buttons while the printer is starting up. Check your printer's user manual for instructions. If this page prints successfully, you know the problem is either with your connection or with the software in your computer.
  3. Check your printer's USB or parallel connection.
  4. Try printing something simple from Windows' Notepad. To open Notepad, go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | Notepad, type a few lines of text in a document, and try printing it. If it successfully prints, the problem is with the software program you originally tried to print from.
  5. Try printing using Windows XP's generic printer driver. Open and run the Add Printer Wizard. When you get to the Install Printer Software screen, select Generic under Manufacturer and Generic/Text Only under Printers (see Figure 2).
  6. Select No for Do You Want To Use This Printer As The Default Printer? (see Figure 3). Click Next.
  7. When prompted on the next screen, tell Windows XP to print a test page. If the page successfully prints, then you probably have a problem with your installed printer driver. Either update or reinstall the driver.
