Question about Roper RAS8445KQ Top Load Washer

Open Question

Washer fills and then stops...

I have a model #RTW4340SQ0 Roper washer that is less than 2 years old. When I started the machine, it filled with water as required and then stopped. Upon further investigation, we found the wires underneath that connects the agitating sensor (?) are unattached. Is this repairable or am I going shopping for a new machine again?

SOURCE: Roper washer RAX4232PQO doesn't agitate or spin

It sounds like you may have a broken motor coupling. This is a common problem that usually occurs through normal wear and tear. Replacement couplers are more resilient and resist breaking much better. If the washer will fill, will not agitate or spin, but will still drain, these are the symptoms of a broken motor coupling. The accompanying noise of the motor engaging and a rattling/grinding sound is also a common symptom. This is a very simple and inexpensive repair. The following link explains step-by-step how to replace one:

The part number is included in the link I provided. You can purchase a replacement on line at for about $11.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Roper is manufactured by Whirlpool and uses Whirlpool parts, so these instructions will apply.

I have a roper Model # rtw4340sq0 that when on the "super" water level setting, just continues to fill ( and drain) when it gets to the rince cycle.

Sounds like the water is siphoning out of the drain hose.
Check the drain hose behind the washer to make sure it's higher then the high water level in the washer.

I have a Roper RTW4340SQ0 and my washer filled straight to the top and would not cut off it flooded my house what could this be?

There is a pocket on the side of the drum which is designed to trap air, this air pressure
in turn operates a switch to shut off the fill valve. It has a clear hose running to it and
sometimes lint will get caught in the line at the drum connection. You can open the
top control panel (usually the two screws at the base of the panel) and the panel
will hinge up. Make sure you unplug machine before servicing. The switch will be
obvious as it has one clear line and two connections on it, It is round. Remove the line
and blow into it to be sure that any lint clogging this line is cleared. Reattach and test if
you cleared a clog. If the line is clear then I would replace the switch. model is under the lid
One other possibility is that the fill valve stuck open, but I have never
seen this happen in 10 years servicing top loaders and stacks. Hope this helps. :)
