MFC 6800 DR-250 Resetting drum change message To reset this message you have to find the initialisation sheet that come with the drum, or either make one of paper.Open the unit, remove the drum assembly and put it on a sheet of paper so you don't get dirty dark powder on the desk. Then, with the flat edge facing you, place the sheet in the opening on the top of the drum unit. Then, slowly rotate the drum unit using the wheel on the left bottom side till the sheet edge align with the plastic notch. If you do a custom sheet, it is 9 inch wide, and 3 inch of height. the hole is about 3/4 of an inch wide and 5/8 of an inch long. (wide is in the 9 inch paper direction. the hole is center of the sheet while it is 1/4 of an inch of the one side. you can find a picture here: http://www.futuregraphicsllc.com/prod.php?post_cat_header_id=6&subsection=2 Then when done getting the sheet inside the drum, put back the drum in MFC 6800 unit then close the unit. It should get the sheet out and clear the message. you may have to try it 2 time or more if the position of the starter sheet is not perfect. take care not damage the drum, you may want to buy the initialisation sheet from : http://www.futuregraphicsllc.com/prod.php?post_cat_header_id=6&subsection=2

How to reset " replace drum" for brother MFC-7860DW

Time to really order a new drum and really replace with a new one.
Resetting the drum unit will not improve print quality. It only resets your drum and allows you to continue to print. You decide when to replace the drum unit not the manufacturer!

1.Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge. Wait 1 or 2 minutes.
2.Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge into printer.
3.The error message "Change Drum Soon/Drum end soon" will continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replace the drum unit.
4.To clear this error message, you need to reset the drum counter as instructed below.
5.Make sure that the machine is turned on.
6.Press Options.
To confirm you are installing a new drum, press 1.
7.When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover.
8.Your drum is now reset.

Brother MFC 6800 Drum replaced, now prints blank page. Plastic sheet was spit out indicating correct install. Same toner cartridge will work if old drum re-inserted, but print quality is bad, as drum worn...

Here is a link to the user manual check page 187... and buy a new toner... sometimes the toner runs out and the unit does not alert you... if the toner does not fix the issue but the old drum still works... then your new drum is a dudd and needs to be changed...

I have a brother mfc 9180 and the error message keeps coming up replace the drum. I have done this How do I reset it

your new drum should have had a plastic "starter sheet" installed just level with the exit hole. this sheet resets the counter, and should not be removed before fitting the new drum. The sheet will be automatically ejected when you have fitted new drum. If you still have this sheet it can be refitted to the drum, then reinstall the drum. Works for me ! MFC 9180

Reset the drum count on a brother intellifax 2800.

Drum counter is reset by installing a new drum which contains a specifically designed "starter sheet" that is passed through the machine when it is installed, and triggers the paper sensors in a specific pattern, resetting the electronic counter.
If you have installed a new drum and the message remains......I suspect that it was a remanufactured unit that did not include the "starter sheet" Is that the case?

Vertical lines when it prints, etc.

Vertical print problems are going to mean a drum replacement on that model. You can try to pull out the drum unit and carefully, with a lint free cloth, try spinning the drum and cleaning it off, but more than likely the coating on the drum has worn off where the vertical defect is. New part # dr-250 for that machine model..

Cannot reset the change drum soon message after replacing drum.

This message would appear if the drum unit is near the end of its life. Use the drum unit until you have a print quality problem, then replace the drum unit with a new one.

This message would continue to appear if the clear plastic starter sheet was removed from the "new" drum before it was installed. This plastic starter sheet, resets the drum counter. To reinstall drum with the starter sheet, please follow the instructions listed below:

Locate the starter sheet. Clear plastic sheet, 9 inches long, with a cut out in the center. The sheet will have "Initialization of your new drum successfully completed. Please discard this sheet" written on it.

If you cannot locate the starter sheet, contact the Brother Customer Service or the appropriate Brother authorized dealer.

Change drum soon will not clear after new drum inserted

This machine is reset with a plastic sheet that come in the new drum unit. When the drum is inserted for the first time, the sheet slides out and trip the exit sensor in a certain way. Then the counter is cleared. If you still have this clear plastic sheet, then you can reinsert it into the top of the drum unit and try it again.

Brother MFC 6800 shows Replace Drum Soon even after replacing drum

Put back the sheet in.

Remove the drum, put back the starter sheet in with the flat edge toward you.
Turn the drum left gear to get the sheet in till the plastic notch are even with the edge of the sheet.

The put back the drum in the printer unit, close the unit and printer will eject again the sheet clearing the message.

you may have to try this more then once, the sheet should be at the right place in order for the message to clearout.

You also need to clean the 1/2 inch plastic windows at the bottom of the printer prior to put back the Drum. this will allow the laser to get to the drum unit more accuratelly.

Don't use alcool, or any liquid. this could damage or scratch the clear plastic windows and thus alter the print quality.
