Sovereign SLM 1500 lawn mower blades have stopped turning

Hi, My Sovereign SLM 1500 blades have stopped turning despite the motor working ok. My hunch is that the mower belt needs replacing, however is this an easy job or should I ditch the lawn mower ?

I have the same problem and i took the top off and then the blades and then took out the mounting screws for the motor (bit tricky) and pulled the whole component out and found a broken belt. took about 20mins with the right tools. all i have to do now is find a replacment belt. dont throw this work horse away!

Hi the blades on my E-drive 1200w lawnmower are not turning?

Sounds like you have lost or broken your shear pin out of your drive pulley. Make sure your drive belt is working the way it should be. You did not say if its working.

I was mowing and the blades stopped turning. I disengaged and re-engaged the blades a few times and they started back. Then a few minutes later the blades stopped again then the motor stopped and will...

I have no idea what type or model of mower you have but if I was to guess I would say it has an electric pto clutch on it, if so remove your pto belt and clutch. I would bet it is burned out and locked up preventing your motor from turning over. Once the clutch is removed I will bet it will start and run fine. This is not a cheap fix but relatively easy one. Hope this helps.

The engine is not started

Check the blade... it is bent and causes a vibration. if it is not the blade then the motor shaft is bent and that is terminal...if that happened then the mower is junk...

Broken Belt on a overeign SLM 1500. Have replacement belt but am unable to get the blade/plastic blade off its shaft. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I am not sure what an over reign SLM 1500 is and I have never seen a power mower with a plastic blade but in order to remove the lower belt guard from most walk-behind, self propelled lawnmowers so equipped, it is necessary to remove the blade adapter from the bottom of the engine shaft to allow the guard to slide off.
To remove the blade adapter, tip the mower to where you can spray some penetrating oil on the shaft above it and let it soak for a little while. When you think it has had sufficient time to soak down between the shaft and adapter, set it up on your work bench if you have one available or you can do this on the ground as well. Tip the mower back on the handle bar (this will keep your oil from running out into your air filter and clogging it), secure it in the fully tipped back position, take a small hammer and tap downward on the blade adapter while pulling downward, away from the engine at the same time. Use caution not to strike it so hard as to damage or break it. They usually slide of with just a little bit of effort. Once the adapter is off you can easily remove the plastic guard. When reassembling it, I always use a little anti-seize on the adapter to make it easier to remove next time.

Pull string locked up

check oil , if you didn't have sufficiant oil you may have blown the motor up . try turning mower up and turnning blade by hand to see if motor is froze. if so you can kiss this mower goodby ,or at least the motor. sorry .by the way maybe you would want to check the oil in your car before you blow it up too

Lawn mower belt

I checked around a little bit and figured out that your best bet is to take your belt off. Then take it to a auto parts store and let them compare the size to other drive belts and they should have what you need. That's what I had to do once and it was successful. PEACE
