99% of these in dash dvd players have this safety feature to prevent you from watching the dvd movie while driving down the road. There is a wire thats supposed to be hooked up to the parking brake, that way the video only works while the parking brake is on. With MOST of these units, you can bypass this annoyance by grounding the wire thats supposed to go to the parking brake switch.. (instead of hooking the wire to the switch hook it to a ground wire) FYI it is against u.s. federal law for the driver of a vehicle to watch a motion picture while driving down the road.. but that doesent stop most of us lol... -ampman

Very funny, somebody spoke of breaking the law. What about all the thousands and thousands and thousands of people that are using XBMC, Kodi, Jarvis and watching excellent quality bootleg content. Or how about the fact that quite a few teenagers get their learner's permit but hardly ever have a licensed driver sitting next to them while driving LOL. How about underage drinking, and fake College ID's. We could go on and on and on. So to even bother mentioning that a law is being broken is so hilariously trivial. Anybody that's looking to do something like this is well aware of the consequences. Anyone who says otherwise is full of baloney LOL even if it's Oscar Myers. Almost forgot one of my favorites, driving above the posted speed limit. Everyone and their grandma has done this multiple times easily.

Have xd vision x358 car audio with DVD player and I can't see the pic but on the screen it says " The sake of safety, driving ban video

Its a built in safety option for not playing videos while you driving. There is a connection form the player which goes to hand break. When you put the handbrake then only you will be able to watch video on the screen. If you want to watch video while you are driving then you have to find that wire and connect it directly to the ground (-ve supply rail) at your own risk.

Cant play dvd. just get sound and message on screen saying for your safty dont watch while driving

Hello g60aminal,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

To answer your question: Just like the message says on the screen. DVD playing while driving is disabled on all current "Dash-Mounted" DVD Navigation systems. It is a safety requirement that was mandated by most States' Department of Transportation. The goal was to inhibit drivers from being distracted with DVD movies being played on the Navigation system while the vehicle is in motion.
You will notice this feature kick in if you have the vehicle running, and in park; then place it in gear and you will see the video stop and display the safety message while the audio keeps playing.

Have a great day!

Dvd not play

A lot of the video screen units are on a lock down mode unless the parking brake is set on your car as a safety feature to make sure you are not watching while driving, there are ways to bi-pass this safety feature but do know it is illegal in some states. Trying YouTube for a way to bi-pass your safety feature sometimes its a lot easier than you would think.

You might need to check your wiring, it's a safety feature with dvd players. Check the ground wire.

Lights come on but goes off nothing comes on any display. this was after someone put a code in it to bypass the brake safety switch. now the lights come on briefly and then everything shuts down

Normally you would ground the safety switch wire and not enter a code of any sort.
You need to reset the unit to factory settings, should be in user guide.

I have a Pioneer AVIC-D2 DVD Nav/6.5" Screen/AM/FM/CD Player Car Video Player i can play music on it ,wen i insert a dvd the screen goes black i can hear the dvd playing on my speakers but no picture comes...

there is a safety brake wire that needs to be hooked up. If it was installed professionally, have them explain it to you. There is not supposed to be any video players in view of the driver while in motion. Stop your car and put on the parking brake. If you installed it yourself, you probably didnt hook up the wire. Look inthe install manual for DVD safety wire.
