99% of these in dash dvd players have this safety feature to prevent you from watching the dvd movie while driving down the road. There is a wire thats supposed to be hooked up to the parking brake, that way the video only works while the parking brake is on. With MOST of these units, you can bypass this annoyance by grounding the wire thats supposed to go to the parking brake switch.. (instead of hooking the wire to the switch hook it to a ground wire) FYI it is against u.s. federal law for the driver of a vehicle to watch a motion picture while driving down the road.. but that doesent stop most of us lol... -ampman

Very funny, somebody spoke of breaking the law. What about all the thousands and thousands and thousands of people that are using XBMC, Kodi, Jarvis and watching excellent quality bootleg content. Or how about the fact that quite a few teenagers get their learner's permit but hardly ever have a licensed driver sitting next to them while driving LOL. How about underage drinking, and fake College ID's. We could go on and on and on. So to even bother mentioning that a law is being broken is so hilariously trivial. Anybody that's looking to do something like this is well aware of the consequences. Anyone who says otherwise is full of baloney LOL even if it's Oscar Myers. Almost forgot one of my favorites, driving above the posted speed limit. Everyone and their grandma has done this multiple times easily.

How do you turn off the safety feature that doesnt allow dvd play?

Hello my name is Israel and I will try to help you out. ON the back of the stereo there is a set of wires wires, four rca jacks and one wire. The wire should be connected to the parking break, whick means that the video will viewed only when in park. In order to by pass it take this wire and connect it straight to ground so that you can view it at any time. Good Luck.

My AVH3200BT headunit can't play videos from my Iphone, u can only hear the audio but not the video. HELP

Try putting the Vehicle in park and apply the parking brake. If it works at that point, then the Stereo is blocking the video due to "Safety" concerns.

How do i get my movies to show on my dvd/cd player in my car. say something about the brakes.

Depending on what DVD/navigation system you have, it may be wired to only play movies while the parking brake is engaged.
I have an after-market Pioneer AVIC-9DVD Nav system, and that's the "default" means of operation. My screen is in-dash. Some places can install a a bypass switch, but that ultimately introduces a safety risk.
In situations where the screens are mounted in the rear of the vehicle only, it should be okay. I'm guessing you have a factory-installed setup where the screen is in the front with the driver.

Test the neutral safety switch.

===

Put your foot on the brake.

Move gear lever to "N"

Start the car

If it start then it's a defective neutral safety switch.

Shift to PARK and shut off engine.

ok this is what I just found concerning your issue.
Now this is just the beginning so Im sending this complete in sections for you.
  • Turn ON the ignition. The Cadillac emblem screen appears on the navigation radio.
  • Press the POWER/VOLUME button on the radio.
  • When the navigation disclaimer screen appears, press the I AGREE button on the display.
  • Press the NAV button on the radio. The display should show the current position of the vehicle. The navigation map should be clear and have clear color.
  • Press the voice switch on the steering wheel. Speak a valid voice command. The system should repeat your command and then perform the function.
  • Does the system operate normally?

There is a wire included in the harness, which needs to be connected to a ground I think it was called "PARK" or something. Just turn on the radio with a dvd in it, while touching the excess wires to a ground. You'll quickly have it in hand.

This was done as a safety feature to ensure you're not driving while watching a DVD.

Was it professionally installed? If so, by default, the manufacturer puts a sensor that is to be attached to the brake pedal. So you cannot watch dvd or tv while driving. Check the install diagrams, move the brake/motion sensor to something that is on when the car is moving, Radio, A/C Controls, etc. Best of Luck.
