    no power

Green light turns on for a second, then turns off. Tested power supply get 11.5V and !3.4V. Numbers stamped on supply say output should be 24V and 27V. Bought new power supply. It also tests 11.5V and 13.4V. Either both power supplies are bad or does the printer circuit somehow switch the power supply to a higher voltage. Does anyone know what the "cont" wire coming out of the power supply is for?

I had the same problem just this morning, 14 Dec 2008, after some power interruptions to my area the previous night. I changed the fuse in the mains plug to no avail. I the unplugged the thing completely with the intention of throwing it away, but I turned it upside down to look for the power supply, prodded, poked and shook it a bit just for fun. I plugged it in again and lo and behold it now works!

Not very scientific (there may be loose connections somewhere) but I hope it may help.

Just took the cover off and cleaned the printerhead. The light came on for about 5 mins. So you could be right. Just checked for replacement head and they cost over £40 might aswell bin it and buy a ip4500 for an extra £20.

Re: my 11/14/07 post: Apparently, the lower voltages are correct for the power supply when not connected to the printer. Removal and reinstallation of the print head resulted in the printer powering up. I had to remove the cover since the print head was off to the side. It worked for a day but now I get a print head error. I suspect that the print head was the problem all along. But I have to decide if I want to spend more money on a new print head to find out.

Why doesn't it turn on?

Check all wires and connections. If u confirm power reaching the innards of unit then there is an issue with the power supply of printer.

Amber and green light keep flashing back and forth, not printing. I tried rebooting, nothing happens

Switch off the printer and disconnect from the power supply. Leave for 10 minutes and then try powering up again from cold. If you are still getting flashing lights please count the number of each flash and repost

Canon i560 yellow light blinks 5 times. How do I clear it and have good printer again?

This is a printhead/cartridge error.

First try to reset the computer:

Resetting the PrinterBy resetting the printer's power, the print buffer is cleared and certain sensors are reset. If there is invalid data in the buffer, or sensors are stuck in a particular mode; errors may occur.Follow these steps to reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

  2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer back on.

If that doesn't work try to reseat the printhead.

I560 will not power up

The Canon printer has a power supply problem, I have found that when the fuse goes, it usually indicates shorted diodes and a filter capacitor, It will need to be dis-assembled for service.

Is there a solvent available to unplug the print heads of a Canon i560 printer

Goof off will do the trick. Remember after you can fool around with it, it won`t work again. You just have to replace them.

I have a home network using a desktop Dell 3000 series computer and want to add a Sony Vaio laptop. My network works ok but I cannot share my Canon i560 printer. Any solutions?

Sony Vaio is operating on Windows 7 and Canon does not supply drivers for my i560 Canon printer. I was able to download a suitable driver from another source. I have since bought a new Epson printer/scanner at a good discount which works well on the Vaio laptop.

Our i560 suddenly will no longer turn on

Sure it is, try removing the inks and then the printhead. If it will power up with them out, you need a new printhead. Don't put the old one back in as you could fry the logic pcb. The printhead part number is stamped on the side.

Canon i560 printer will not turn on, despite power. Is there a reset bntton or combination that may make it possible or is it a short life product?

Have you checked the fuse on the power cable? Have you tried another power outlet and changed the power cable?

If you have the chances are the power supply unit in the printer is faulty. It may have an onboard fuse that has blown or maybe the PSU is fried.
