Question about ViewSonic PJ500 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

I have a viewsonic pj500 projector which has functioned perfectly for 5 years. Now the area around the image area either shows a dark blue with dark stripes and the image area has a yellow cast which seems to be made up of yellow and white stripes. It does this even when it's not connected to the dvd player or computer. If I tap lightly on the top of the projector the surrounding blue sometimes goes away but the image area still has a yellow cast from the pale vertical yellow stripes. Sometimes there is a distinct and bright vertical yellow stripe through the image. This will move if I tap the top of the projector.

LCD projector 101, your blue device is dying inside of projector. Consider purchasing a dlp based product, they do not suffer from color decay.

Really you are blessed , most lcds last about 3-4000 hours or 4 lamp changes. good luck

SOURCE: Dell 2300 projects verticle stripes accross the projector screen.

this is due to improper power supply or a loose connection inside. the symptoms are of power supply unit inside projector. check out the current and amperes inside the projector on board. sometime the current stable but the ampears are down.also check the switching transistors & filters inside.......

My Viewsonic PJ500 , The white bottom meets yellowish, and the edges that are black, they meet blue. Thanks!

Hello,

if this is a DLP projector then the light tunnel needs to be adjusted or replaced or the colorwheel index needs to be adjusted if what you are describing is ghosting of sorts.
If this is an LCD projector your green lcd panel could be burnt, or you could have true ghosting that needs to be adjusted with the options in the hidden menu and should only be done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Good luck

Viewsonic PJ500 bulb does not come on

Hi.
Look at the base of the bulb at the filament in the center of the bulb, if buldging change he bulb first. If the porblem continues then have the units Ballast or Sometimes called the lamp driver check and replace if defective. The cheapest way is the check the voltage at the lamp connections in the housing for At least 280 volts, while turning on the unit you will need a voltage meter to do this.

I have the same problem as posted too, ordered 3 new lamps and they all still do the same thing. I`m starting to think its the projector that has a problem.
