Question about Dell Inspiron E1705 Notebook

2 Answers

When clicking on the star, the history shows up but..

It only shows todays history, when i click on "by date" there is no option to put in another date. Where is "documents and settings"?
Will the history show just the sites that the person has been on?
Not the ones that were trying to access the computer like in the temp files ? I need to know the actual sites the person was on on the computer..
Thanks

Sounds like the person might be clearing the cache after they are done using the internet. Documents and settings is in your c drive. Just right click on the start button and choose explore. Try doing a search for all files and folders, then go to advanced search options and check the box that says all hidden files and folders. Hope this helps. Plese feel free to leave feedback for your answered question. Thanks

My Computer > C:\ (System Volume, Boot Volume, Windows) > The Documents and Settings folder > User Name Folder > Local Settings Folder > History.

If the Local Settings Folder is not visible in the UserName Folder you have to enable show hidden files:

While at the folder goto Menu at top Tools > Folder Options > View > Select the radio button for "Show Hidden Files"

If the user is using Firefox, then may have already selected not to save the browsing history, without advanced tools this information is not accessible.

If the user is using Internet Explorer, History will display unless they have selected to save the files for a period of "0" days, newer versions may even have the ability to not save at all.

Check the History folder to be certain.

Good luck.

If want to see what's been viewed on a computer or if you want to find a website that you visited, but can't quite remember the name of, you'll need to check your computer's history and cookies folders.

These are where the information about a computer user's Internet whereabouts are kept.
Some people say these folders contain the user's "footprints."

The footprints aren't hard to find. All it takes is a few mouse clicks and you're there.
Open your Web browser and click on the "Favorites, Feeds and History" tab. Internet Explorer's tab is indicated by a yellow star.

Click on the "History" tab. There should be a list of items arranged either by "Date," "Site," "Most Visited" or "Visited Today."

Click on each of these items to see what's been viewed on the computer.

If the history has been deleted, click on "Tools" and a drop-down menu will appear.
Click on "Internet Options."

On the "Internet Options" screen, click on "Settings" under "Browsing history."

Click on "View files" to display the cookies on the computer.

Cookies are pieces of information from websites that a computer saves to make loading the information faster. You can click on these items to see what they are.

It seems to be an ongoing problem today. I would try cleaning out your cache and see if that helps. On your browser click on Tools. Then there is a drop down menu. The very last choice is the one to click Internet Options followed by the Delete button under browsing history. Good luck.
