Reading cap on but not and no video recording

I have the same problem. The cap on is showing when it isn't and I can't record a video sometimes just sound. The camera is in good condition. What is the problem? Also where can I get a USB cord and will this allow me to upload videos to the internet?

I can't solve your first problem but Best Buy will definitely be able to help you find a proper chord. Just bring in your camera and double check what you buy to make sure it has a logo that is compatible with your computer (sometimes they can be careless.) Hope that helps.

Recorded scenes show as question marks

They are recorded as something that the computer does not know what to do with. You should have a cd with that camera that can convert the files. It could also be that there is a problem with the recording.

Camcorder keeps reading internal memory full and just put new memory stick in camcorder how do I get out of internal memory

Your Sony camcorder has internal hard-disk and records by default to this media. If this is full, you need to offload the recordings and free up some space on the disk. But to select the memory card you can do the following:

Selecting the recording media for movies:
Touch (MENU) [Show others] [MEDIA SETTINGS] (under
[MANAGE MEDIA] category) [MOVIE MEDIA SET].
The [MOVIE MEDIA SET] screen appears.

Touch the desired recording media.

Touch [YES] .OK
The recording medium is now changed.

For still images:
Selecting the recording media for photos
Touch (MENU) [Show others] [MEDIA SETTINGS] (under
[MANAGE MEDIA] category) [PHOTO MEDIA SET].
The [PHOTO MEDIA SET] screen appears.

Touch the desired recording media.

Touch [YES] .OK
The recording medium is changed.
Hope this helps, if more help needed, reply back.

Not reading pre-recorded dvd's and ocassionally not re-wrtten dvds

Over recent months my recorder has stopped reading pre-recorded disc's and more requently re-writer disc's. I had thought that the region had some how been altered, but not too sure now. Is there a way of checking? Or is there a problem with the laser block. I have stripped the machine down and thoroughly cleaned (but no dust found) and no loose parts. I have reset to manufacture default but this hasn't helped.

DVD-RW discs I have recorded sometimes say 'disc error' sometimes 'no disc' sometimes start ok but cycles round and round for 5 - 10 mins before stopping, sometimes goes straight into play at last position, won't stop back in menu just goes straight to stndby. Factory reset dosn't help. Wont play pre-recorded discs without going into menu and messing around. It seems to damage or not record RW discs properly a lot of the time. Not even sure if it's resetting to factory settings properly.
