Question about Clarke Power Products Clarke 130EN Mig 110 Volt
Is there any way to check the transformer for humming. Is there any place to look for a schmetic on this welder.
A volt check and a design voltage is required. A fuse on the line side of the transformer would be worthless on a welder (I believe) so a burned wire or control circuit to the transformer is most likely. You can ohm out the transformer and mathematically you can come to understand the workings of the windings. First remove 1 side of the wire feeding the transformer and check for main winding resistance. If you have some (not high like million ohms but probably in the thousands) then assume that part is ok then proceed to the secondary side from your ground to the terminals on the other side of the transformer feeding the stinger end. removing wires as needed. If this checks ok then the transformer is most lkikely ok and your control switch or the control board is at fault.
Some of the boards may or mat not have fuses so look for these as a sigh of troubel befroe persuing a replacement part.

This might help...
they arent great drawings but it might do the trick, you just have to listen to your welder to hear if it makes any funny noises, during welding and during rest. good luck i hope i helped
