Internet barely works

Step 1:
Most of the programs running in the background of your computer start automatically during PC reboot. These applications were added to the Windows startup menu during default installation. However, you probably do not need all of the programs that are currently running on your computer all the time. This only slows down your PC and the reboot time. Fortunately, you can access the Windows startup menu and remove the programs you do not need to have running automatically. Turning off the programs shuts them down until you enable them again through the "Start" menu.

Go to the "Start" menu, type "msconfig" in the "Start Search" box and press "Enter" to start the System Configuration utility. Click the "Startup" tab in the System Configuration window. Uncheck the programs that you want to turn off and stop from running in the background. Click "Apply" and "OK" to save the new settings. Restart your computer.

Hi, My laptop taking so much time to switch on and it became very slow. Please tell me the soluiton for it.

Sometimes slow booting of computers and Laptops are caused by viruses and spywares. Also, a High temperatured Processor makes a computer slow.
Here are some solutions you might want to try.
  1. If you have a installed antivirus in your computer, i suggest you update your Antivirus and then Start scanning your computer for possible viruses and spywares.
  2. If viruses and Spywares are not the problem, maybe your Processor is feeling to much heat. I suggest you use Laptop Coolers like this one. heifentrixx_11.jpg
  3. This will help you cool down you Processor and Laptop.
Hope my solution will help. Thanks for using Fixya!

Hi,my laptop become so slow and its keep freezing

Head over to download.com and do a search for Ccleaner. Once you download and install it, run the cleaner and registry fixer. Registry errors are a common cause for a computer slowing down. If you are running Windows XP, a good idea would be to change the size of paging file which will increase performance.

My aspire 3680-2633 is running super slow! How can I get it some speed

Hi,

There are two possible reasons for computer running slow:
1. A lot of applications are installed and the Windows is trying to load all during the startup process
2. The computer is infected with virus

Try uninstalling some softwares and also scan your computer for virus

If the issue still persists, the I would suggest a full system recovery, you can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps:
Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction.

NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Slow running machine

It might be caused by spyware running in the background. Download, install and scan your hard drive with this. Spybot

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

If it doesn't find anything then go to Start, Programs, and Startup. See if there is anything that you don't need to start up every time. If you find something there that you don't need then delete it from that folder and it won't start.

The next suggestion should only be done if you are comfortable with using Regedit.

Go to Start, Run and type Regedit

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
and check in there for programs that are not needed to start everyday. Please don't delete any keys that you are unsure about.

I get a memory error whenever a Pogo games starts loading; then internet explorer closes. However, 2/3 of memory is free.

2/3 of your hard drive is free not memory. The memory can be freed up by going to start menu, run and type in msconfig

In this window, go to the startup tab and uncheck all programs that start with the computer. Click apply and then reboot.

Memory shortage is caused by alot of programs running in the background of your computer. Every single program you install, by default, runs in the background when your computer starts up. The method above will kill all programs from starting up and save you memory.

Takes a long time after Turn Off Computer button is pressed

Thats normal for many! It would depend on the amount of Ram you have installled.and the number op programs you have in an open state on the right hand side bottom task bar.
Use MSCONFIG ( Via RUN) to remove some of these programs from running at startup. This should help to close down faster

Programs running in background on my pc

The trick is to choose which programs run at startup. These background programs will slow your computer down. I use "startup optimizer", this free software will rank your startup programs, allow you to research the need for each, and turn on or off the program. It also lets you create a backup file, just incase you turn off too many options and screw up your computer.

I got it from downloads.com
