Meterjr: After running the dishwasher empty to try to analyse the problem as requested it hasn't stopped once. Appears as if you have solved my problem! Thanks very much

Please do this so we can get more information about when the dishwasher fails.

With an empty dishwasher, start your normal wash cycle with a timer or note the clock time. Listen to the cycles as it progresses.

    First cycle: Drain
    Second Cycle: Hot Water fill
    Third Cycle: Wash
    Forth Cycle: Drain
    Fifth Cycle: Fill
    Sixth Cycle: Wash
    Seventh Cycle: Drain
    Eighth Cycle: Fill
    Ninth Cycle: Rinse
    etc

Note the time of the cycle change and the minute for each cycle. Note in that list where the DW fails.
    Post that info plus:

When the dishwasher stops, what do you hear?
    Any beeps? How many beeps?
What is displayed when it stops?
    When does the H display?
When does the flashing E display?
Does the H and the E appear in the display side-by-side or alternate in the display?

Thanks! We can get this problem solved.

My LG dishwasher - model LD-12AW2 has 'E1' alert & won't work

This sounds like a anti flood activation due to water leak / spill detection. This device (polystireen float and micro switch) at the base of the washer detects any water leak and stops the washing cycle once water leak activates the switch via the float. Check if any water at the base of washer is cuasing the float to activate the switch. Rectify any leak / spill (normally a pipe / clamp) and this should solve the problem.

My Lg Dishwasher , model 12aw2 , has an error message OE shortly after start up , dishwasher is over 6 years old , is this a simple fault to repair? or not worth it ?

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out. A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code..

Ie problem on lg dishwasher

The IE is telling you it is not getting enough water. Could be your water pressure is low. Check to make sure the there is not a build up of grime, or calcium deposits in the water hose, and at the valve.
The other thing is if your unit is an older one, prior to mar 07, you may have broken wires in the door. Remove the door panel and look for any wires that are stuck in the insulation. The sensor wires are thin and gray in colour. Splice the wires and put some of the white insulation in between the wires and the door so it cannot happen again.
Broken wires can be hard to find if the break is not all the way through.

LG LD12AW2 leaking

The fill switch may be contaminated with soap or debris that makes it heavier and makes it float lower in the water which means more water is required to trip it. Try moving it manually and see if it is hard to move at the top of its travel.

take off the water inlet valve and clean the little plastic filter. Hard water builds up a white scum type of substance.
