Hi there,my auto mechanic told me to buy a new transmission for my honda crv 99 manual. The problem is where to buy good transmission and of course in a reasonable price. Thanks!
FixYa is international. Unless you state where in the world you are, it's impossible to make specific recommendations.
What does hold good universally though is that ALL salvaged transmissions are a gamble. Unless you personally know the history of the donor vehicle you have no way of knowing the good from the bad, and neither do most commercial dismantlers. Plenty of private sellers will know, but you have no way to trust their assurances. If a FixYa Expert recommends a supplier, you have no way to know whether they have a vested financial interest in doing so.
Even if you get to test drive the donor vehicle it only shows that the ****** appears good for the brief time you drove it, unless you can give it a hundred miles or so over various conditions, but a vehicle that good won't be a breaker.
All you can do is to find a reputable dismantler who offers a decent no-quibble warranty, the best you can hope for is one who will guarantee the ****** as good for up to about ninety days, but even then they will usually have strict conditions regarding installation and servicing of the unit (usually certified professional installation and all fluid, filters and shaft seals to be renewed). transmissions. Some of those suppliers will claim to be providing tested guaranteed units, but again, you have to take their word for it, and the cost of those units will be getting towards the cost of a good quality remanufactured transmission with a full warranty, but one of those will likely cost more than buying another used CR-V (also a gamble, but at least you get the chance of a good long test drive to minimise your risk).
In short, any recommendations you get on FixYa as to where to buy are likely to be useless. Cheap/reasonable priced transmissions and guaranteed good transmissions are mutually exclusive. Pick a supplier based on personal recommendations and take a calculated gamble.
Sorry this isn't the answer you hoped for, but understanding why your question has no straightforward solution may help you to reduce the odds in your favour.
