Should be a pin type button on it somewhere that you can use a paper clip on to hold it down for 5 to 10 seconds and let go whilst it is powered on.

If that does not reset it then you might have to use telnet or an ftp client to upload the correct firmware in binary mode.

Link failed and flashing light

it sounds like you have locked the Router into Firmware Flash mode by incorrectly performing the reset steps which are :
To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a
paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process.
Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.
If however, one presses and holds the Reset button while it's off, then turns it ON, then it will start the flash process and flash the power light orange.
To recover, you will need to re-flash the Router.
Here is the D-link support page to find your firmware, you will need to find the correct "version" of the 615 you have and download that file, (you will need to un-zip it,) then follow these steps :
        1. Disconnect the power cable from the router.
        2. Open a web browser and type in the URL but DO NOT PRESS [enter] or the [GO] button yet.
        3. Press and HOLD the [reset] button on the router and connect the power cable. Continue to hold the [reset] button for about 10 seconds, then release.
        4. Now click inside the address bar of the browser and press [enter] or the [GO]. The "Emergency Room" Updating Firmware screen should display.
        5. Browse to and upload the DIR615_v4.11_B02.bin image file.
        6. When you see the message "IMAGE UPLOAD SUCCESS", the flash will begin to be erased and re-written.
        7. Use your browser to again connect to the router at or press [F5] and refresh the page.

The Dlink setup screen should load. If not, you did something wrong. Go back and try again.

My WRT54GS router is not connecting to the net

I think you don't need to upgrade the firmware.
The router might have lost the connection to the modem.
You can try to reset and reconfigure it. Or you can also try to upload or re-flash the same firmware on your router.

Connect the computer to the modem and make sure that you have active internet through the modem.
Connect the modem to the router and computer to the router.
Open the setup page of the router and reconfigure it manually.

My router will not connect the power light keeps blinking

Check this tip out from Linksys. It is for a G VPN Router but you could use the same steps to troubleshoot. Title: Resolving Blinking Power or Diag LED on a Linksys Wireless-G VPN Router Article ID: 4982 If the Power LED on your Linksys router is blinking, this means the device is not ready. It should go off once the router completes its diagnostic test. If the Power LED won?t go off, it indicates that there?s a possible hardware problem with the router. To resolve this, you will need to perform five steps: Resetting the Router Assigning Static IP to the Computer Pinging the Router Accessing the Router?s Web-based Setup Page Updating the Router?s Firmware For instructions on how to reset the router, follow the steps below. Resetting the Router Hold in the RESET button at the back of the router for 30 seconds. Unplug the power to the router then plug it back in. If after resetting the router and the Power LED is still blinking, try resetting the router again for another 30 seconds. Then proceed with assigning a static IP address on the PC. For instructions, follow the steps below. Assigning a Static IP Address on Your Computer Most of the time, if the power LED on the router is blinking it loses its ability to assign IP addresses to the PCs connected to it, which is why you need to assign the computer a static IP address. After assigning a static IP address on the computer, check if the computer is still communicating to the router by performing a ping test. To ping the router, follow the steps below. Pinging the Router Ping test helps trace the communication between the computer and the router. The computer sends packets to the router and in return the router sends out replies to validate the connection. In this example, our router IP address is NOTE: If you?re using Windows 98 or ME, click here. Windows 2000/XP Step 1: Click Start, then Run. NOTE: If you?re not getting good replies from the router, it means the router is not communicating properly with the computer anymore. You can already consider the device defective. If you get good responses from the router, access the router?s web-based setup page to see if a firmware update is possible. For instructions, follow the steps below. Accessing the Router?s Web-based Setup Page In order to perform a firmware update, you should be able to access the router?s web-based setup page. Green Power light flashing

Hi, Have you tried a hard reset? Your model has a small reset button at the rear between the Internet/WAN connection and one of the antennas (Press for 10 seconds +). Also flashing power led is an indicator of firmware problem which might have been caused by a failed firmware upgrade/update. Instruction on how to correct this problem is also included in the firmware upgrade/update. A more detailed instruction is in the User Manual. With regards to firmware update/upgrade , pls be reminded that firmware is very version specific. To locate the version number, you have to look underneath the unit and download the appropriate firmware from LinkSys website. ( The download is a zip file which you have to extract to a folder. The .bin file plus instructions as well as specific instructions on how to make the power led stop flashing. Hope this works out for you. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck and kind regards.
