Re: cable to pc

For this information you will need to contact the Panasonic customer support. You can do this by e-mail using the you can also call the customer support telephone number at 1-800-211-7262. Between the hours of 9am-7pm EST. Give them the brand name and model number of the camcorder and ask them if the type of connection is possible with your computer. Ask them what type of cables are needed for the connection and if any special software or drivers are need for connection. They will be able to give the correct information on the type of cables needed and if any other special drivers or software are needed. I hope this information help you with your problem.

Hi8 Video to DVD

CCD-TRV37 is analog video camcorder and can not be hooked directly with computer because camcorder video-audio out is analog and computer needs digital format.

You can hook camcorder with DVD Recorder and burn a DVD. Now you have data in digital format and can transfer in your computer.

Which cable do I need to conect my camcorder to pc

if you need a visual on it, there is a video on under Electronics. The example is Belkin IEEE 1394 cable (Firewire and I-Link compatable) and it connects digital camera to a laptop.

Can I hook my JVC GR-AXM230 to my computer

Yes, you need to buy a special cable from the camcorder manufacturer.  These are usually a massive rip off for a poxy bit of cable, but it will enable you to convert tape to dvd.

DV Out/In cable missing

You need a Firewire (also called IEEE1394) cable to transfer DV to your computer. I buy mine here, usually:

There are 4-pin, 6-pin, and 9-pin Firewire connectors. Virtually all camcorders sport the 4-pin variety. Most PC laptops do as well (if there's a built-in port) so for camcorder interface, you would need a 4-pin to 4-pin cable. Most PC desktops that support Firewire use the 6-pin cable, so you would buy a 6-pin to 4-pin cable to hook up to the camcorder. Some Apple Macintosh computers and high-end PCs may support an 9-pin port as well, which is the newer, faster version of Firewire, but offers no advantage when talking to a camcorder.

If you haven't used your computer with a Firewire device before, do make sure you have one. These are available as PCI cards, PCIexpress cards, PC cards, and ExpressPort cards. It's pretty common for a modern desktop PC to have one or two Firewire ports. They're not uncommon on laptops, but do check.

Canon ZR800 MimiDV Camcorder

You cannot connect a DV cable to a USB port. These are two incompatible standards. DV is also called Firewire, iLink or IEEE1394. You PC must have that kind of port for you to transfer your video from the ZR800 and you will need a DV (iLink/Firewire) cable. You cannot use USB cable they will not work. Check if you want an example. Most new PC come with 1 or 2 iLink/Firewire/1394 port. If you PC does not have an iLink/Firewire/1394 port then you will need to install a iLink/Firewire/1394 card (see for more information.
