do you know of any sub-zero repairmen in my area,I live in Round Top NY I had a repairman from saugherties NY here twice, first time he put in some gas, second time he raised the freezer temp, that didn't help, vacuum condenser lite is still blinking & my fridge is still constantlyrunning, the door inside is often warm to touch

I also vacuumed the condenser very well....it didn't help...

I do not personally know any repair in your area, but befor you call, check the fan speed on your condenser.

  • GB3RND Oct 25, 2013

Sometimes the fans get slow, but do not stop as they wear out. If it isn't spinning at least as fast as a window fan there is a problem. the vacuum condenser light is caused by high temperature in the condenser. High temperature is caused by poor airflow because the condenser is dirty, or the fan not functioning properly. The refrigerant level is very rarely a problem.

It is likely the condenser fan is not functioning, or the condenser is dirty. You may need to open the compressor access panel to check. If you can hear the compressor running, and the condenser feels warm, the fan should be running. If it isn't, it probably needs to be replaced. Another symptom is the area around the doors feels warm.

The compressor in the fridge energises for a constant 30 mins in every 90 mins. Is this normal?

depending on door seals and the number of times the door is opened and the temp setting on the thermostat and the positioning of the fridge it could be considered normal
see if you can get an idea of the cycle times at night when the fridge is not being opened and the room is cooler if the temp setting is close to 32 or zero celsius then the fridge works hard to maintain that low setting but if the setting is higher say 5 degrees celsius it runs a lot easier
the problem with fridges is that every time the door is opened , all the cold air falls on the floor and the motor has to run to fill the fridge with cold air again
fridges that are full of food maintain their cold better than empty fridges

Should fan run constant on indesit ban12fn fridge freezer?

It should shut off when it reaches the correct temperature. If you have the temp set to low it could cause it to continue to run or if there is an issue with the fridge that could also cause this issue. Keep in mind after a defrost it will take some time for everything to get back to the correct temp so it may run constant for a long time.

Should the fan operate all the time in my refrigerator

Most of the time it runs only when the compressor is running. In other words compressor and fans will run together when the fridge thermostat ask for cold and stops together when thermostat is satisfied. In newer fridges some time inside fan (evaporator fan) might PERIODICALLY run without compressor to circulate little cool air to fridge compartment from freezer compartment.

Westinghouse fridge turns it self off to defrost is this normal

If your second hand fridge is over 5 years old, then it might be time to buy a new one. Most fridges nowadays have a lifespan of 5-8 years the most. Danni

What is the energy consumption in WATTS for my Samsung RT45M/RT41M/RT45E/RT41E Refrigerator? It is not listed in the manual

Thanks for the opportunity to answer your question.
There are many factors that will come into play in determining the actual energy consumption of your fridge.
These items include and are not limited to, How often it's opened (freezer especially), Where it sits in the house, does the sun shine on it? Does it have proper space for ventilation behind it and around it.
How full the fridge is and what you place in it.
The average consumption in Wattage on this fridge is 1200watts while running.
So to figure your yearly cost you will need to know how many times the fridge runs per day and how long it's running. You can then average that time over a month.
Usually you are only going to spend about 60-120 dollars per year to run the fridge if it's inside and used or opened about 10 times a day.
A good idea is to use empty plastic containers in your fridge where you have large empty spaces. This will reduce the amount of space in the fridge that it has to cool and will improve the cooling.

My refrigaator runs all the time and doesnt stay cold

More than likely the fridge isn't breathing properly. The most common solution for this is to clean behind the fridge. It is the most common place that people forget to clean. On the back of the fridge at the bottom there should be a "filter" usually cardboard that gets full of dust bunnies and just all around dirt. The back is where the fridge breaths air in and without air the fridge suffocates itself and will run more trying to get air in resulting in a warm fridge. Good luck.

G.E. Fridge

modern day fridges with 134a tend to run more than older units but use very little electricity if the freezer and fridge temps are fine and the doors are sealed i wouldn't be too concerned running times vary with things like temp settings how many time the doors are open etc but when running they use about as much power as a 100 watt light bulb
